I am new so don't everyone gasp out loud, but what is a Pal Mickey? I am on another thread about whether or not to rent a fridge at CBR when myself and son will be there in June and someone suggested I stick with my cooler idea and use the money for a Pal Mickey, only problem is I don't know what it is?
Enlighten moi

Is a Mickey Mouse Doll, that is approsimately 12 inches in length. It comes with a belt clip that you can attach to carry it with you. When you are at Disneyworld it updates with Facts about the parks, rides, parades etc... and then it talks and gives you the information. When you are not in the parks, it tells jokes and riddles. You can rent one while there, and the cost of the rental goes towards purchase. If you have young children, It would certainly keep them occupied.

We love Pal Mickey. He tells corney jokes, information about the lands we were in, reminded us of what was going to begin, where the lines were short, and also when we brought him home he tells his jokes and riddles as well as playing 4 different games. When we return to WDW we will get him reprogramed at the gift shop for the latest shows and attractions.

Just a few questions! What is the price of Pal Mickey to purchase and to rent? Could you order one in advance and have it sent to your home to entertain the kids on the drive to WDW?

$8.00 a day to rent, $60.00 to buy. The rental fee goes toward the purchase if you decide to buy. I have seen them on Ebay or you may be able to call and order one.

Does Pal Mickey just keep talking all the time or do you need to push his hand or something to prompt him? For example...someone told me he speaks French when you're in France (EPCOT) - do you need to be in a certain spot (maybe there is a sign?) or does he just start talking? You said he will remind you of upcoming parades...again, does he just start talking?

My daughter used her money to buy him - $60.00.

To rent it starts at something like $10-12 per day but price goes down if you rent multiple days. We just bought him, knowing that she would want to keep him.

He is re-programmed everytime you walk through the turnstile. You don't have to do anything. There are computer chips in side. If you find in the park he seems out of it, you can go in a Pal Mickey giftshop and they can reprogram him again. We had no problems. He always knew where he was and what was going on.

When he wants to speak he vibrates. You squeeze his hand or belly and then he talks. In Frontierland he told cowboy jokes. As you walk past a ride he may tell you facts about the ride. In EPCOT he talked about the countries. There are sensors all over the parks. He warns you to put him in a plastic bag if you are going anywhere he may get wet. Splash Mtn, Fountains etc. That is a NO NO. He will short out. Any store will give you a bag for him.

She really enjoyed him (11 yr old) and we had fun too. When we go back, he will simply reprogram himself at the turnstile. (You have to make sure he is turned on before you go through).

We bought him at hotel gift shop but he is sold throughout the parks noted on the maps.

Thanks for all the info. Does anyone know if he can be purchased through Disney travel with your package and shipped to you before the trip? Also how many and what type batteries does he take?

3 AA Batteries, but he comes with them to start.

I don't know about buying in advance for sure, but since they are sold at resorts I would think he certainly could be waiting in your room for you............
