Pal Mickey...

Okay I don't know where I have been, obviously under a rock, b/c I just heard about Pal Mickeys...
Well after trying to find information on them...I went to Ebay to check out what they are going for...I ran across:

We are so depressed -- we bought Pal Mickey when we were there about 2.75 years ago figuring it would be a good investment (be able to use it every time we go) and maybe we'd get another for the next time for the next kid -- AND THEY'VE DISCONTINUED THEM!!!!!!!!! We're still bringing ours when we go in March but a friend borrowed him for a trip in November and couldn't even find any outfits.

If you are going now, I wouldn't invest. They're NOT cheap (especially since they've stopped making them) and therefore wouldn't be worthwhile.....

Not to be overly negative, but we purchased one, used it for one trip (5 days), did not allow it to be touched until the next trip where it promptly broke. We were told we were out of luck, so it was a big bummer and a lot of $$ for 6 days of Pal Mickey. Worse yet, it seems to happen fairly often. Just a "buyer beware". But he was cute and fun while he lasted! Have a great trip!

We LOVE LOVE LOVE our Pal Mickey We have sent Pal Mickey to Disney without us 3 times no 4 times he has been a trooper! They are no longer available now and if ours poops out we are in trouble everyone we have sent him with has loved him - I dont think the MP3 player Mickey is the same one. Sorry

No that does not appear to be the same thing and I think they may be misrepresenting the product a bit. It says "theme park exclusive" and that it's the "next generation" Pal Mickey but I don't see anywhere on the packaging where it says "Pal Mickey". It says "Music Mickey" which leads me to believe it is only for the IPOD.

Disney did unfortunately discontinue Pal Mickey so they are probably hard to find. Disney is still supporting it as far as they will work in the parks, but I don't think there will be any more updates to it. Too bad.

edit to add: another thing that makes me think this is not a true "Pal Mickey" is that PM's have a hard plastic nose where the receptor is (where it receives the signal while in the parks so it will say things to you that pertain to the area of the park you are in). This mickey looks 100% plush to me, including the nose.

edit #2 Just got a response from ebay seller confirming the above info.

"This is a Music Mickey. It plugs into MPS and dances. It is not a pal mickey. It was what Disney made after the pal Mickey. Thanks, Marc

Have you tried taking the batteries out and replacing them with fresh ones? Just a thought...That has resolved this issue with ours. I'm sorry you're having problems with it.

I am so sad to hear they stopped making Pal Mickey. Like you Tulip we just heard of pal mickey. We were looking forward to getting one this year. But I am reluntant with all the breaking comments. That and they are selling for well over $100 on ebay.

This happened to us at AK. It was actually my sister's so I called her. She said she thought maybe one of the CM at the shops could help. He sure did, it was the batteries. He put in fresh ones and off we went. He put in some no name batteries and didn't charge us a penny.

Pal Mickey scared the you know what out of my kids (5 and 3) They didn't want anything to do with it, so I ended up carrying it around all day. Needless to say, Mickey didn't go out any other day.

First of all...thanks to everyone for the information...I think I still want to try it...I think my son would love this for our upcoming trip...and with the lugging around...i don't think that would be a problem b/c we usually pack up the stroller with everything + the kitchen sink...lol!

If anyone has any Pal Mickey's that they want to sell...please let me know too...I might be interested in buying a used one or two...hate to have my son & nephew fight over them...
