I was wondering how people feel about the pal mickey. It seems rather expensive but the idea seems just great. Can anyone give me feedback, yea, nay or somewhere in between. Thanks.

Anna

Can I add an additional question - the idea sounds really cool, but how easy / difficult is it to lug him round the park ?

I loved mine at the parks and I still play with him sometimes at home when i need a pick me up. I think you'll find that people either love him or hate him. He's not very heavy and I had no trouble carrying him around the parks for 7 days.

DD7's Pal Mickey has been on three trips with us. She loves him (you can tell by looking at him, he is getting a little battered) and never gets tired of listening to him. Carrying him has not been a problem for her. I bring a zip-lock bag along so that Pal Mickey doesn't get wet on any rides involving water. He was a little expensive, but I figure that he has cost us less than $20 per trip. DD plays with him at home too, I guess when she is missing WDW!

Wow. Thanks for the feedback. I was worried about carrying him around all day. I like the idea about cheering a person up when the vacation is over lol. I'm glad to hear that he can be used for the next trip. At least that helps me justify buying it.

Have a magical day!

Anna,
There is a great group of people that are pal mickey owners and have formed the pal mickey's grown up pal club. Some of us are very obsessive with our micks and the website is definilty the best sourse of info on pal mick. There is a disney cm that posts that is very knowlegeable about pal mickey and several disney world annual pass holders there as well. I would encourage you to visit the site basically its pal mickey dot net (i dont think i can post the actual link). There is way to much false information floating around this board about pal mickey. Some of it is out and out lies especially about the original version.

Oh Good, I wanted to know about this too!

We're going on June and DD turns 5 in April. I was thinking about getting her one for our trip. We'll be going again in Dec so he'll get a workout.

Will DD be able to understand what he is saying?

Also, where do I get them from? I had a friend order him from an outlet but he was a dud. IF my DD is going to be using him, I want him to work properly.

I love the Ziplock bag for him on wet rides..LOL how cute. They should make a pal sized ponco LOL.

Also, what does it take to activate him? Thanks!!! I might check that other site out too.

I bought one for my 4yr old niece when we went in dec--- she could have cared less! :rotfl2:

he ended up cliped to my side for a few days- and then i said forget it.

maybe she was too young- but i will have it for the next time.....

Catherine's mama,
Pal Mickey is available all over disney world. I purchased mine at once upon a toy in downtown disney but he is available in stores in the parks and i think some resort gift shops as well. If your daughter watches mickey cartoons and can understand mickey's voice then she should most definitly be able to understand pal mickey. Just make sure if the parks are busy or your in a loud area you hold him closeer to her ear. When you buy your pal mickey make sure he gets turned to the on position(a little black button in the head area under the zipper) I'm sure a cast member can help you with this if you need it. Also when you go thru the gates make sure he is facing forward so he picks up the signal of where he is. I would recommend bringing extra batteries along with you. He needs 3AA. If he starts shaking uncontrollable and his voice is hiccuping he probable needs a battery change. The cm's in the shops will change them for you free of charge if you provide new batteries. As far as a rain poncho they have come out with some outfits for pal mickey and they do have a poncho but it doesnt really provide the best protection from what i've heard. When i got my pal in oct i used a large clear ziplock bag and just put it down over his head on splash mountain. The few minutes we had to run from one place to another in a downpour i stuck him under my poncho to keep him dry. Let me know if you have any other pal questions or check out the other website they are the place i used for info before i got my mickey and i have become a member. WE love to dress up our pals and talk about his adventures.

This is good to know, I really regreat not getting a Pal Mickey because I thought it would look to childish. On our last day at WDW I did see a few child free couples with one, but by that time I thought it was too late. It sure would be nice to hear Mickey's voice right now.

Always glad to help out where I can. I would rather give people the real info on pal mickey and point them in the right direction for more then let them read the lies. Hope you all get your mickeys and enjoy them as much as some of us pal lovers. WE really are a unique bunch as you'll see if you do happen to check out the site. There is also reviews and pictures of the disney costumes for mickey on that site. And alot of good info on where we have bought clothes for mick.
