On the fence as to purchasing Pal Mickey. We're park veterans, don't need a tour guide, but folks indicate he's cute & entertaining.

Aside from the hefty price tag; I'm concerned that I get sick of lugging him around...know my DH & DS wouldn't be caught dead holding him (that macho thing you know).

TIA

Most people on here will tell you it's worth it, but IMHO I think he's a burden. The only help he's ever given is to tell you when wait times are down - I only used him once b/c I wanted to hear what he said about any attraction. I say, if you're going to get one, just rent it - it's a lot cheaper than buying one. Remember, when you take him home, he'll tell you the same 10 jokes over and over and over again with no reference to the park. This is all just my opinion though

I would like to know as well... I am a Disney veteran too and do not know if it would be useful for me at all... However, I did see them at the Disney Character Premiere store (Disney's outlet store) selling for $12.99! It sure made me think about getting one....

...or I should say DD has one. SHE purchased when she was 11. He is cute enough, she has fun with him, he hitched rides with me or DH as well. We also know we will be back regularly and he can return as well (and he has). BUT I wouldn't have bought it just for adults or even a child if they don't truly want one. We didn't really feel he was a tour guide, maybe because we are also veterans, just something different and special to add to our trip.
Now $12.99, that is pretty good ~ for that you just might catch me with a pal on my hip ::MickeyMo

IMHO I don't think he's worth it. I bought him 3 trips ago and for us he's just a pain to remember to bring out of the hotel and didn't really give us any info we didn't know. It was fun the first time, though. I think you can rent him for a day. Maybe that's a better way to go.

I think the 12.99 ones are prob. the old ones. We have one of those and a new one as well...he has newer tech. and plays more games. My kids love Pal Mickey. He has been on many trips with us. He gets attached to a bottle lanyard so they don't lose him. He is great for passing the time waiting in line.
For adults it is 50/50...I don't like carrying extra things...but with kids...definately!

We bought one for our last trip and the kids were fighting over who could carry him - they loved the little jokes and when he shakes becasue he had something to say our whole group stopped to listen - my kids are 12 and 15 and they loved it!!!

i posted a few days ago on this asking should I buy the new or the old. I have 4 year old twins so I will need 2. I don't want to spend my days listening to them fight over 1.

MouseEars has one referenced @ 13.99 via a phone number...I called & ordered, total w/S&H is $22.95; said I'd receive in 4 weeks.

Not much more than a standard plush would cost @ WDW. I'll pretend it's a souvenier LOL. Don't care that it's the "old" one...good enough for me.
