Pal Mickey Tips?

We bought a Pal Mickey via mail from the discount Disney store posted in a thread a while ago. Anyway, I am finally going to WDW this week. My question is: Any tips for using Pal Mickey in the parks? Do I need to get him programmed or does it happen automatically?

I am interested in getting one for our trip the first week of April. I have read that when entering the turnstiles in the parks to keep him nose forward because that is how he will get updated for the day.

Make sure he has fresh batteries. We bought two from the outlets and one updated and the other didn't. Quick stop at the store on main street to get fresh batteries and he worked fine.

They actually sent an extra set of batteries for him in the box

Sorry, I haven't been on in a while, but the link that jjct1 posted is the one I got the phone #s from. I think I ended up getting mine from the Miami store. They can probably tell you if they're planning on getting any more in. If they're expecting some just remember to keep calling every week and call every store because I don't think they know what the other stores have.

Does Pal Mickey work outside of the big 4 parks? Does he have audio for Downtown Disney for example?

I believe he takes AA batteries. I want to say 3 or 4.

He only works in the parks and talks the most at Animal Kingdom
