I think so. You can take PAL Mickey into the Kodak store on Main Street in MK(I believe - someone correct me if I'm wrong...it was the shop with the cut-outs you can take pictures with in the back.) and the have a machine they can put him on to "test" him.
Also be sure he is facing forward as you are walking into the parks. That's how he updates his info.
All Pal Mickey versions continue to work at all WDW parks.
He will not "know" about any new attraction that has opened since he was built.
But there are only a very few of these.
Soarin' and EE, in particular.
No biggie at all.
Older Pal's cannot be "upgraded."
They can only be "reset" (like a computer restart) at the Pal Mickey/VMK storefront on Main Street.
And you do not need to have that done, unless your Pal simply stops talking or responding in the normal way.
If your Pal just starts "wiggling" and won't stop... he only needs a fresh set of 3 AA Alkaline batteries to recover.
He knew about soarin' when we took him last time, but I was curious if he had all the updates as far as jokes and stuff. I will take him to the Kodak shop for a cheese change and a tune up!

Yes, that's the one I have, hmmm...I must be mistaken, I could have sworn he knew all about Soarin'. I may just buy a new one then so he can be up to date.
That's why I am the proud owner of three PMs - Version 1, HCOE version and YOAMD version.
Each one has just a few more "tricks" and tips. I can be comical to take Version 1 to the parks. If a ride has been significantly changed, he doesn't know it and babbles on with inaccurate info...poor Mickey!
