Elin and I headed off to DC again with two of her coworkers. We arrived to see a beautiful sight... The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, located on the campus of the Cathlic University of America, in the heart of Washington, DC.
We checked into a thing called a dormitory and look at all the stuff we got!
Elin had made me a T-shirt so I would feel like I belonged
That night we ate in a dining hall and they had lots of my favorite foods!
And I got to sit with some of Elin's students too
We were all tired from all that unpacking and running around in the heat and the workshops so we went to bed early. Now I know why college students complain about the dorm!! Those beds were like rocks wrapped in vinyl. I did not sleep very well, so the next morning (VERY early) Elin and her co-workers took some pictures and then let me go back to bed while they were in seminars and workshops.
That afternoon we got all dressed up and went to a concert and a reception in a REALLY big concert hall. I cannot believe how good those kids are! They wrote every single song they played and they had professional musicians from California playing with them.
Before the concert and during intermission some of the people there wanted to have their picture taken with ME! I could not believe it since they could have been taking them with the performers, but I put on my best smile and let them take my picture with Yamaha Music Education System bigwigs and also lots of the families that filled the auditorium.
I had an amazing time and would go listen to those performers any time. I didn't get bored or sleepy at all! It was after midnight when we got home and I slept in this morning.
Elin says my time here is almost at an end. But she tells me I am on my way to New York and then headed back to Virginia, but to Virginia Beach with June! I remember June from our DDA trip to DC a few weeks ago. I can't wait to go visit her.
Bye for now...
