Painting On Plastic

So I'm making personalized party favors and painting on buckets, bowls, wipe containers, etc. You can see the brush strokes on the plastic though. I'm using regular acrylic paint and some brushes I bought at Michaels. Is there a certain type of brushes and/or paint I shoud buy that works best on plastic?

I was just going to ask the same thing! I am trying to paint little white plastic cup holders and want them to be a different color. What kind of paint is good for this?

Latex Trim paint, used primarily for the trim on houses, MAY work better. I've used it to paint animation cels on acetate transparencies. It will definetely cover better as I've found craft paint to be very thin. Wal-Mart's Color Place paints run about $6-$7 a quart and come in a ton of colors. If possible a light sanding with an extra fine sandpaper, around 220 grit, would help the adhesion.

Yikes, that's too expensive. I need multiple colors and that just adds up. Thanks though!

Someone on another board said to try enamel brushes. That's what she uses on glass and it minimizes the appearance of the strokes.

Get the soft golden nylon bristle brushes. You do not want to use natral bristle brushes, they are for oil painting. Also, you can use the little bottles of acrylic paints in Michaels called the Ceramcoat brand. They are about $2 a bottle.
