Painting lamp shades?

Hi. I want to stripe a lamp shade to match or decor, now can I just go buy any craft paint?

The shades I've painted look great when the light is off... when the light is on, the paint has taken in some spots, and not in others due to the texture on the shade.

So, if you are OK with that, then paint. If you want a more smooth look when the light is on, get some trim at JoAnn's and glue it on the shade...
