I bought a new shower curtain and towels, so I need to paint my bathroom to match.

It's been a long time since I've done this. I'd like info on what kind of paint to use in a bathroom, paint brush, painting technique, anything! Any experience you have is appreciated. Going out this morning with shower curtain to find a color first. Will check at Sherwin Williams to get started. :)

I just re-did our bath and got my paint from Sherwin Williams. I did not want a glossy finish so they recommended more of a matte finish that was great for bathrooms, don't get it!!!!!!!!! I painted my walls a darker grey-blue and you can see the drip mark stained on the wall. I have a very good exhaust fan but after 3 showers in a row, its hard to keep moisture off the walls even with the fan running. Before I re-did the bath I had just a semi-gloss behr paint from home depot, never had that problem with that paint. Don't let the commercials fool you, not everyone at Sherwin Williams is a paint expert

An other one who wants to do her bathroom! However, knowing that it takes paint at least 30 days to fully cure and dry, I will not do it until I can leave the windows open during showers and throughout the entire day. I made that mistake once and had the same problem luvmy3 had with weeping. When I went to my paint store this is what was explained to me.

The home forums on Garden Web have a paint subtopic that I learned a lot from as well.

We didn't wait 30 days, but it was about 3 weeks and most of that time we ran the de-humidifier because we did it in the summer and leaving the windows open wasn't an option with the humidity. I just think the *expert* at SW was misinformed, he looked like he was about 16 and probably never painted a room in his life

I recently painted ours using the new bathroom paint from Benjamin Moore. We used the bathroom for showering/bathing the same day with no ill effects.

Painting is all about preparation. If the existing paint is glossy, rough it with some 320 grit sandpaper, wash with TSP or substitute, rinse, and let dry. A roller will make the work go much faster. Another labor-saving device is 3M masking tape with sheeting already attached, which comes in blue rolls. Semi-gloss is much more durable in a bathroom.

DON'T use Valspar paint from Lowe's. Just redid our powder room using it and it is horrible!!! :sad2:

It doesn't go on well (despite preparations) and when my husband went to caulk the new sink, despite having 2 weeks to dry, when he edged the caulk, the paint came off with it! Never again!

I agree 100%. I just painted a wall in my living room. I love the color but the " one Coat" super duper Valspar paint was horrible!!
I was livid! I have had better luck with the cheap walmart paint then the junk at Lowes!
