'Paint the Night' and 'Disneyland Forever' are HUGE hits for Disneyland

I started watching the video and I decided I will wait to see it live. I am excited I have the ability to see the new show.

Sounds great.

I didn't watch any videos or read descriptions, so experienced all of these shows and attractions fresh. I was blown away. Of course, we'll talk about it on Sunday for those who want to know, but I'm glad I didn't know beforehand. I will say that you get a different experience from the fireworks depending where you are when you watch it. I watched them from the hub area, whereas ImTooExcitedToSleep watched them from the middle of Main Street where all the buildings are. We had two different experiences. :)

I started to watch the fireworks live feed and changed my mind. We will be there in 4 months 1 day and I will wait to see them when we are there. There is something magical about watching it for the first time live.

I sure hope these are nightly during off season in September so I have a batter chance of seeing them!

Are there going to be spoilers in the podcast this week? I think I'm going to try to avoid watching the videos...I want to be surprised when we get there!

We had already moved our September trip to August because I couldn't come to terms with not having nightly fireworks (and we are willing to brave the larger crowds for it thanks to Hydro guy's WDW vet post). These great reviews just help affirm my decision. Can't wait!

Will the three viewing areas for Disneyland Forever offer significantly different experiences? In other words, do I have to plan to try to catch this three different times?

How long are these going to be around? We are planning a trip for late October. Will the 60th stuff still be around?

I wonder if there is any sliver of hope they extend park hours and/or nightly parades and fireworks further into the "off season". Maybe if attendance is up, they'll feel the need? A girl can dream.

The fireworks thing is an agreement with the surrounding city, so I doubt there will be any change in the frequency of fireworks. Think about the poor people who live only a few blocks away. I would love to have nightly fireworks, but it's not going to happen. Extended hours though? That I think is a better possibility (as well as regularly scheduled PtN--that parade is truly incredible).

I've brought this up before in other threads, but it's worth repeating.

I don't know if anything has changed in the agreement with the city of Anaheim and DLR over the last 6 years that would impact the fireworks -- quite possibly something has changed -- but in 2009, there were, indeed, nightly fireworks in the off-peak Fall/Halloween season. And then there were nightly fireworks all through the holiday season right after that.

Halloween Screams debuted in 2009. That was the year that Disney needed to really hook people in to wanting to see the new fireworks show so they could include it as part of the paid Halloween party the following year (2010). So they ran them nightly for the masses. That is, every single night (with the exception of any nights that were interrupted by weather) during the entire Halloween season, starting in late-ish September and all the way up to Halloween. Not just Fri-Sun and holidays. Weeknights too.

If you Google "Halloween Screams, 2009, Disneyland, nightly" or some combination of words like that, you will find assorted articles, threads, blogs, etc., that talk about the nightly fireworks. I remember there was even a thread here on this forum, way back then, in which a DIS'er mentioned talking to a CM on the phone, who confirmed that the HS fireworks were happening nightly -- and everyone was surprised.

So it has been done, and it is possible that it could be done once more. Again, that was 6 years ago, but it was a brand new, special fireworks show and there could have been a special agreement that was reached. I'm not sure. I don't know how it all works, and all the red tape that needs to be cut through. As it is, even now during the Halloween season, the more MHP nights that Disney adds into the line-up, the more nights there will be fireworks. Sometimes they might have 5 nights of fireworks in a full week, between MHP and the regular fireworks. And they keep adding in more nights to the party every year -- that is one of the rumors about this year, that there could be more party nights added in.

It is possible that, for this year's special Diamond Anniversary festivities, Disneyland again reached some sort of agreement with the City and an exception was made. Or, if Mickey's Halloween Party moves over to DCA (another rumor), then the nights that ordinarily would have gone to Halloween Screams can be allotted to Disneyland Forever. That is one way it could work.

I tend to think that Disney is going to want to keep a heavy focus on Disneyland Forever all year (the Christmas/holiday season fireworks are not happening this year because Disneyland Forever will be running), so there would likely either be some sort of an extended fireworks schedule (beyond the norm) or Disneyland Forever could take the place of Halloween Screams too, in addition to taking the place of Believe...in Holiday Magic.

But, unfortunately, we probably won't find out what's going to happen with off season fireworks and all of that until we get closer to the end of the summer.
