I haven't heard anything about this in a while. Does anyone know if it is still going on???

Thanks

It was for us last week - DS found one (at about 10:15 - we were on the 2nd raft over) and we received 2 certificates for Splash Mountain and/or Big Thunder Mountain. Better still, the CMs monitoring the fast pass lines didn't seem to know what to make of the certificates, so we only flashed them but didn't actually relinquish them - we went on Splash Mountain 3 times in a row via the Fast Pass line as a result. Your mileage may vary, of course.

What is the deal with the paint brushes? Sound like fun!

Thanks

They are 'hidden' on Tom Sawyer's Island and there are several. Everyone who finds one gets the certificate's. The Island opens at 10 am.

So, you should probably get there early?? Do they tell kids about it, or is it just a secret fun activity? My DD6 would love this!

I would get there early but I belive that most people will not know about it. I am not sure if the CM will tell you about it, but if you ask I am sure they will.

Oh yes , they're still there to be found. When we came back over on the raft a little girl had found one and the cast member asked her what she was gonna paint. After a long "Ummmmmm"..."A horse and a .....square!" How cute!

Boy you learn something new everyday. Never new about this. COOL

Usually, they do the spiel on the first raft ride over, don't they?

They tell everyone about it on the first raft or two of the day.

on our last trip we went there at 3pm and found a paintbrush hidded in the rafters by Aunt polly's so after they are found the brushes are re-hidden

I was just going to ask if they "re-hide" them after they are found. Can anyone confirm if the poster found a tricky one that no one else saw or if they are "re-hid"?
I have never heard of this! In fact, I don't think I have been on Tom Sawyer's Island since I was a kid! Maybe I should bring my two little ones this time. DD6 and DS2. Not sure what there is to do there . . . can someone fill me ina nd let me know if this is "worth it" for my kids' age levels.

is it worth it? heck, yeah! that has always been one of our stops in MK. it is a fun relaxing way to get away from the crowds, let the kids roam and explore, feed some ducks, etc. we never miss it, although we have never gotten over there early enough to find the paintbrushes....

When we went last November and couldn't find any our raft person told us that it was too late by then and they had all been found for the day already. He recommended doing it first thing in the morning. We had read about it in one of her Disney for Kids books. I guess it can vary.

We are going in October. The park will open at 9am. Do you know when the 1st raft might be?

Are you ready for a laugh? I never knew about the paint brushes and found one once. We thought it was just left by a worker and I almost tossed it in the trash! ( it was not used, but looked old.) :rotfl2:

We found one on a busy June afternoon laying in a flower bed last year. Seems like they must rehide them because it certainly would have been found by then.

this sounds cool, I have always heard of it but never tried to find one. where did everyone find theirs? or is that cheating?
