So excited! was searching for paid studies and surveys in my area and found a sleep study that will pay me $975 :cool1:!! its about insomia, i have a very hard time falling asleep and staying asleep so i qualify. will need to have a physical done by them and 4 over night visits in a period of 8 weeks, after the 8 weeks i will get my check::yay: most of it will go to my last disney vacation payment the rest i will take for spending money!!:goodvibes

Wow - that's pretty cool. I have never seen anything like that in my area. How did you find the study?

Can't keep from noticing your tag under your name. "the city that never sleeps". Arer you sure your the best one for that study? Maybe it's not that you can't sleep, you just have to move to a different town.

new york is known as the city that never sleeps FYI. i have medical reasons for not sleeping well

We've done lots of studies this year too for our Disney trip. So far we've raised about $300 doing studies. Most of ours were conducted by the local universities studying child development.

You can often find medical research studies through your local hospital. They have a lot of opportunities or healthy people as well as those with some kind of disorder or illness. I have done a healthy heart study and one as a control or a sleep study.

You can also look for marketing research firms in your area. In January, I got paid $70 and dinner for my opinions on a new hospital coming to our area(2 hours). There was a panel of around 10 of us. In 2 weeks, I am doing the same thing, but its about dog food. This one pays $100 for 2 hours. The first one I went to for this company recruited too many people and they didn't need me, but paid me anyway, LOL

Just be aware you might get a form at the end of the year to pay taxes on this as well. I got paid when I went through an IVF study....the full amount of my medical wasn't covered but still I got hit with a tax at the end of the year. I can't remember the exact filing status that year but I remember something about having to file as a contractor or something.

Oh and another site to check is http://clinicaltrials.gov/

thanks for the heads up

BTW, if you go to Universal and someone tries to stop you to do a survey, DO IT! We made $20 watching a pilot for a tv show and then the next trip, I made $15 for telling them which Purex bottle I liked best(20 minutes). Then they signed me up for a site called Viewpoint Forum, and I have earned about $40/year doing short surveys 2 times a month. Once it was even a product panel and they sent me 40 trash bags I used and then gave my opinion on. You can't get onto this site to take surveys unless you get referred by the company themselves.

This is the company I do marketing research for. They have offices in Raleigh NC and Tampa.

You can also deduct expenses connected with the study, including mileage to and from the clinic. If the same trip served other purposes such as the grocery store or another part time job, you would deduct the miles of a direct trip to and from the clinic. These deductions cannot exceed the gross you received from self employment but you can take them on the Schedule C even if you don't "itemize" on Schedule A.

If you're in the Chicago area (don't know if they have other locations), a company called Fieldworks does paid marketing studies. They have offices in the O'Hare area and in Schaumburg, and I think there's one downtown. I and my kids all get called. I've been paid as much as $150 for a 2-hour study. I've done them on: long-term care insurance; Dunkin Donuts new logo; Kraft grated parmesan; a furniture store commercial campaign; computer gaming site. My older son did one on Lego Bionicles, and they not only paid him, they gave him a gift bag of Legos, and was an "alternate" for a study in case someone didn't show up, but he got paid for doing nothing. DS15 did one for a Kung Fu Panda video game and one for snack crackers. (the kids were much younger when they started -- I think the "alternate" thing was when he was 9 or 10) You can find them on FB too.

Thanks for the thread, OP. I'm definitely checking this out for my area. I know the Smuckers plant gets people to taste their new products, but I think they do it as fund raisers for school groups so the pay goes directly to them, which is cool.
