Paid for 7 days, but made 8 reservations?

Hi everyone! Finally planning my next Disney trip for August 2023! It has been a little bit since I have used the disboards, so please grant me some grace haha.

I booked a package at S+D with 7-day park hopper tickets. On my email confirmation it says 7-day park hopper tickets, and my receipt reflects the correct total for the hotel and tickets (I double checked). However, when I was making my park reservations, it allowed me to make reservations for 8 days instead of 7. MDE currently shows that I have 8 park reservations and I received confirmation emails for all of them. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I thought the amount of park days you purchased correlated to the amount of reservations you could make, but maybe I'm wrong?

Excited to be back on the boards after so long!

My guess (I'm an AP so this is just educated guess) is that you could book 8 because the tickets are valid for a window of availability and it isn't smart enough to recognize your 7 days already booked. Tapping in for all 8 days will cause the issue.

This has never been allowed in the past. As asked above, do you have old tickets on your account?

A 7 day park ticket will only allow 7 days of park reservations to be made regardless of how many days someone is booked.

@KellyKateri, I would recommend contacting Disney to see if you have old tickets linked to your account that you're not aware of. I suggest this as if you do you would want to ensure your tickets are correctly prioritized on your account or else the system would most likely use the old tickets first, not your new ones.

If you do have old tickets linked, you would need to visit Guest Services at the first park you go to, BEFORE entering the first park to ensure your tickets are prioritized to pull from the new tickets.

I definitely don't have any old tickets connected to my account, but I will reach out, thanks everyone!

Except she said her BF has never been to WDW before, there are no prior tickets linked to HIS name, and he was also able to make a park reservation.

I'm pretty confident it is due to her stay being at the Swan/Dolphin. We've stayed at S/D a number of times, and the way it is linked to WDW is a bit funky.

We ran into minor issues during both the Early Entry and Extended Evening hours. During both, we sometimes had to show our room key because Swan and Dolphin don't always show up when CM's scanned our bands. It was weird. I think we were okay for MK's Early Entry, but not Epcot's. At night though, it was the reverse. We were okay getting on GoG in Epcot, but had to show our room key in MK.

Seen many reports of funky things with Swolphin linking to Disney but we’ve never had a report of an extra park reservation being allowed.

Breaking news: I just went back into my account and it says I have a 10-day ticket for both my boyfriend and myself now. It says 2 of 10 park reservations available for both of us. Now I am double confused.

I would for sure call and get to the bottom of it. If you actually do have a 10 day ticket, but only paid for an 8 day, that's awesome but it's more than likely a glitch. On my upcoming trip, in some places my tickets show that I have the water park option included and in other places it says that I do not. I did not pay for the water park upgrade, so I'm pretty certain this is a ticket glitch for me.

Call whoever you bought the package from. (If it wasn’t from Disney you need to call the agency/company you used.)

After it’s straightened out go into your account and check for park reservations. Ticket changes/modifications have been leading to park reservation cancellations lately for some of us.

Was the ticket you bought a promo of some sort.
I haven't bought tickets in ages and don't keep up but at times they have ran promos where you buy X days, get X days added on for free.
Could that be what you bought? A 7 day ticket with 3 free days?

I wish, but since we are staying at S+D we wouldn't qualify for any Disney promos, still waiting for a response from a special team to get an update.

Do you mean you bought the tickets in a package?
Where you stay has no bearing on getting a promo
Where you but your tickets does. The ticket brokers have specials all the time
That's why when I do buy tickets I never buy from Disney

I book my tickets through Disney as a package because we need the flexibility of having a refundable trip for as long possible (work schedules and just being 20-somethings with changing schedules). Also I don't mind spending some extra dollars to make my reservations directly with Disney, especially for when situations like these come up. But to answer your question, yes I bought the tickets as a package with my room at the Swan.

Interesting. . my initial thought was the package just automatically added a 10 day ticket and you didn't notice to change it but I saw in your OP you said you double checked your confirmation and pricing and it listed 7 day park hopper. I would check it wasn't changed to a 10 day non-hopper which I think would be around the same cost.

For future reference, tickets bought from 3rd parties are refundable also. Under some conditions. They list them all on their website. No reason to overpay booking through Disney. Heck, Swan/Dolphin rooms are typically cheaper booked direct with Marriot too. And refundable.
