Do any of the girls here do pageants? I recently quit cheerleading (for various reasons, mainly because I want to go on my school trip) and am picking up a few new hobbies. I am competing in a local pageant coming up next month, that I beleive I am ready for. I also would like to try for the USA program in my state this year.

Anyone else do pageants? Advice for a newcomer? Any stories you would like to share?

I used to do them when I was little.
Ughhh I saw myself in one of the tapes and I wanted to die of embarrasement, I dont know how I let them curl my hair and do that stuff to me! :rotfl:

I want to do modeling again though because I think it'll be like a good hobby and stuff!
But good luck!!

My older sister did pageants in high school .
If you get serious about pageants after this one you definetly need to find a coach!Your Coach will help you with your walk, your interviews, the color dress you should look for that type of stuff.

thats about all that I can think of right now but GOOD LUCK! =]

I've done pageants for a little over a year now.
I started with my first one in October of '06 and came home with First Runner up bringing home trophies in Talent, Interview, and Spirit.
Then I went on to do a state one in April of '07. Out of 15 girls came home with Fourth Runner Up.
Not bad :)
And now I'm preparing for my next pageant early October. :hyper: Can't wait!

As for advice, I don't know what your specifically asking for. Do you want advice in Interview? Gown? Casual Wear? What. PM me I'd be happy to help :D

Coaches are awesome. I got one for the state pageant and she's the best :teeth: She's actually my ballet and pointe teacher now!

Thanks! After this October pageant (assuming I like pageants) I will deffinatly be finding a coach for the USA system.

As for advice, well I geuss I am the most worried about Interview. I mean I've done more than my fair share of public speaking, but I've never been scored on my answeres. lol

What types of questions do you find are asked the most?

Thanks in advance.

My only advice (from a non-pageanter): Don't ever make a comment about US education in South Africa as a response to your question.

aww, I've always wanted to do pagents! I love getting dressed up and walk down runways and whatnot, but I'm most likely too heavy for it.

Nope never done a pagaent before. I would lose anyway.

Agreed except i probably would
I doubt you would lose you are pretty.
Me on the other hand oh god might as well call an ambulance cause i fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down!:lmao:

I was in a pageant with a semi-heavy girl. She won casual wear :) It doesn't matter whether you're skinny or anything. :D

No, but when I went to New York there was like a Miss Teen America or something pageant going on.

It was kind of creepy.

We have Little Miss, Junior Miss, and Miss County Fair pageants. I got 4th place one year. :)

What's creepy to me is those 4 year old girls who look like they're 25..that's why I only do natural (or little make-up whatever) pageants. Not those glitzy ones.
