Packing...

I need to lighten the load in my big suitcase - it's REALLY heavy and I'm scared to death that it will mean the $35 surcharge that we can't afford right now.

Any tips to lightening the load? It is mine and DH's suitcase...so mostly jeans and stuff. The shoes are already in other cases and we are only taking one sweatshirt each.

Should I swap out some packs of diapers with the smaller suitcase - do you think diapers would be lighter than jeans and such?

If you're going to have a rental car I'd leave most of the diapers at home. There's a WalMart really close to WDW where you can pick up more. I wouldn't pay resort prices for them. Also, jeans are really heavy but can usually be worn more than 1 day. Are you taking clothes to see you through the whole trip? I've come to terms with having to do laundry on vacation as long as DD is little and can't really help carry luggage. Also, have you put your suitcase on a scale? It amazing how much heavier it feels than it really is.

Unfortunately, we have to bring our own diapers - it is my understanding that there are no health food stores down there and we can only use 7th Generation brand on my DD (so we have to bring our own). Not a big deal - we have suitcase room - I just need to lighten the load, literally - make the one big suitcase physically *lighter*

So far I only have two pairs of jeans packed and DH has two pairs packed. And, unfortunately, our hotel does not have laundry facilities, so that's not an option. The girls clothes are small and don't take up too much room...but ours - whew!

take sweats...much more comfy, and lighter too, and they'll dry faster if they get wet...or one pair of jeans - wear them on the plane...airport won't weigh you - unless you really want them too LOL!
