This will be the first time bringing along MIL with me, DH and DD3. Any tips on things to pack to keep things organized at the resort?

I've got a foldable bin for toiletries to put on the sink (at CBR), laundry bags and a hanging 3-compartment thing for the closet area.

I've learned GREAT tips from here on stuff to bring, so any thoughts appreciated!

Thanks!

Lots of folks with small kids pack each outfit into a large ziploc bag; this would include everything from shirts/shorts to underwear and socks. I've read that it really helps keep kids' stuff organized - simply pick out which ziploc bag you want for that day, and get dressed! It seems like it would be especially helpful to toss an entire outfit (in a ziploc) into a backpack in case you need extra clothes to change into.

One thing that I like to do upon arrival at the resort is to call Mousekeeping for extra hangers - they'll bring you as many as you need. That way, I can hang stuff (touching up with the iron as needed) and things don't take up as much drawer space.

I used to do this when my kids were young. I would label each zip lock bag, they had their own suitcases, for that days outfits. It worked out great! No arguing, confusion and helped keep the room organized.

I also had a laundry bag for the kids to keep the dirty clothes from cluttering the floor. They each had their own travel bag with snacks and things to keep them busy (all new so it was more exciting) from boredom in airports, plane, hotel room time.

Rain ponchos just incase it rains. Ziplock baggies are great to put items in when getting on water rides. Also if you like getting the pressed pennies bring plenty of quarters and pennies.

Bring a power strip to keep electronics corralled in one area. I like to bring a pop-up laundry hamper for dirty clothes. You could also use one for toys if necessary. At home, DH has his wallet, ipod, earbuds, loose change, pocket knife tool thing, watch, etc, all laid out on his night stand, so we use fabric storage bins for each person's stuff on vacation. If you want your DD to wear certain outfits on certain days (like themed tshirts or whatever), write what park/day on the kids' ziplock baggies so your DH or MIL will know what she should put on if they're helping to get her ready.

I take a little bit of time each evening to straighten things before bed and a little time each morning just before we leave to straighten them again. It's much more relaxing to walk into an organized hotel room!

I scone the ziplock bag per day idea, I pack the days clothes and PJ's into a bag EVERYTHING socks, undies (diaper for night time) all into one bag write the day and park on the bag and every other day or 2 has a swimsuit/cover up. I plan the outfits out in advanced based on where we are going to be that day. I did this on a cruise and it was the best idea ever! I do it for all trips with the kids.

I did this for DD, everything for an entire outfit went in that bag. I used gallon sized freezer bags... clippies, ponytail holders, socks, undie-pants, everything! Worked awesome for us! Then if she needed to be changed, all the clothes she was wearing went back into the bag.

I use a free packing app to check things off my list and I also like using packing cubes to keep things organized.

Which app do you use and what are "packing cubes" please?

Packing cubes are zippered nylon rectangles/cubes that you can separate and organize your clothing. They come in alot of colors and sizes. I like them as it does keep things organized in your suitcase and also TSA is not handling all your clothing.

That does sound pretty awesome! I'm guessing I can find them at a Walmart type store? Thank you!!

The app I use is called Packing Pro but they are many others. Packing cubes are zippered pouches in various sizes. I use Eagle Creek brand and prefer the clear/white color so I can see what's inside without having to unzip it to look inside. I use the smaller cubes for underwear and tshirts and the larger ones for shorts and pants. If your packing for multiple people I would suggest getting different colors for each person. Happy Packing. :)

Thank you! I'll check them out. :thumbsup2
