One person vaccuums all the air out of their stuff (in ziploc type bags).... saves space. But how do you get the stuff home unless you take a mini vac with you?
and doesn't that defeat the space saving if you are packing a vaccumm...what am I missing here??

I've been thinking the same thing. The one time I used it, when it was time to go back home, I tried sucking the air out with my lungs. Not a particularly good idea.:headache:

If you buy the travel Space Bags, they have one-way valves on them and all you need to do is roll them up really tightly to squeeze all the air out. Not as good as actually vacuuming them, but still saves a good bit of space. :thumbsup2

We use large zipper bags. For our trip back home, I put clothes in the bag, kneel on the bag with the zipper in front of me, then quickly zip it shut before I get off. To be honest, that's what I do when I'm packing to GO to WDW too. Not very lady-like, but it gets the job done !

You can actually finagle your own version of the travel space bags pretty easily with regular ziplocs.

Hang onto a clean straw in your travels. Position all the way to one end of the zipper and zip the bag all the way over as close to the straw as possible. Squeeze the air out - either have someone help, roll the bag towards you (if possible) or squish it with your suitcase.

Pull the straw out quickly while still squishing and zip the rest of the way.

Works like a charm! :thumbsup2

Another ziplock bag user here. While I tend to use the cheaper type bags for ordinary things at home, I find the brand name and freezer style work the best for traveling, especially for clothes (where you are kneeling on them to get the air out). The zip style rather than the slide style work best as you can probably figure out for yourselves :rotfl:. But the expensive freezer bags will last for many trips so I just save them in the suitcase and reuse them until they no longer stay flat. I had priced out the "space bags" and I can buy a whole lot of ziplocks for the price of the space bags. Although for those who use them and love them - :thumbsup2. I'm not knocking anyones choices. I probably just don't travel enough to invest in them.

No, sorry. About a year ago. Walgreens has now stopped their rebate program, and instead prints out a "future use" (good for about 14 days) coupon at checkout.

Just something else to think about. If you are using space-bags or ziplocs and removing the air to be able to fit alot more in the bag, don't forget to watch the overall weight of your luggage. It can be cheaper to pay for the second checked piece of luggage than to pay the fee for overweight luggage.
