I was thinking of bringing my laptop so I can upload my digital pics every night. But...it's one of those wide-screen deals, so it's a bit to carry heavy after a while. Does anyone have an opinion on whether it would be safe to pack in my suitcase. I am driving to the Port, so I have to check my luggage at the curb, right? What about putting it in my luggage outside my room on the last night?

Thanks for your thoughts!

IMHO, I wouldn't. We take ours, and it's heavy, but we carry it wherever we go. It doesn't leave our sight. Too much risk there.
Others may have other opinions.

IMHO, A laptop should be carry on luggage. As a matter of fact, most, if not all, airports require it so you can open it and start it up.

Also, I regretted bringing my laptop on our Western Magic in 2/04.
Simply because it was cumbresome in addition to my carry on.

I think I heard that Shutters will transfer digital pictures to a cd-I think!

Just read this more carefully. Of course, airport security is not an issue. However, you will need to start up your laptop at the port.

Again, I wouldn't bring my computer with me again.

we take ours (also a wide screen model) ... it is a carry on (not in addition to a carry on).

I always bring mine for exactly that reason. My wife and I have three digital cameras between us so there are lots of photos to transfer to the computer.

I never check the laptop; I always carry it with me while at the airports or Port Canaveral. There is too much to lose including normally hundreds and hundreds of photos which once transferred to the laptop are not retrievable if the laptop is lost or damaged.
