i am looking for input on things to pack to bring with to my trip as well as what to pack to bring into the parks? any suggestions would be much appreciated!

I got the must packs for you:
-For starters I definitely would get an empty water bottle. They do have free water in some areas so you don’t have to get $5ish Dasanis. If you really have to get items in the park, save your money for the Mickey bars and other snacks.
-Next, get some really bright clothing. Go as basic or as wacky as you want, but pick something that you and your party can easily identify, both in park and in airports!
-Lastly, put in comfortable socks. You’ll be walking a ton when you’ve reached Disney so choose wisely!

Depends on what time of year you are going and what your party make up is. Just adults are going to be totally different than adults with kids. Kids ages will also matter. No matter when, pack rain gear but especially if you are going any time between say April and early Dec. Water bottles, rain gear, a small fan during the hot season, a cc, a small bottle of hand sanitizer that can fit in a pocket or hang of a bag, some wet wipes of some sort (to wipe down tables or sticky hands, or a hot face, etc) battery charger for my phone, a little cash are pretty much the only must haves for the parks for me. Depending on the type of rain gear and what I'm wearing I can fit what I take in either the pockets of my skort, a fanny pack or a small back pack if I'm taking larger rain gear or a sweater or jacket. If it's cooler weather season some sort of sweater/jacket/coat. As far as what to bring from home - the above and more than one pair of shoes and break them in before you go. I usually take at least 3 pair, two being some sort of walking sandals like Tevas that can get wet. If going during the hot season, maybe take a few extra shirts especially if you plan on going back to the room during the day so you can change. Sunscreen, any kind of basic meds you take (things like advil, bandaids, allergy meds, etc.) Unless you are picky about your hair care no need to take shampoo, conditioner or body wash, provided in the resorts. I drive down so I can take as much or as little as I want so I throw a couple of rolls of TP in my car, I hate the cheap thin stuff in the rooms. I take a few extra small trash bags, they don't provide them in the rooms for the trash cans any more and I hate to throw some things in a can without a bag, they are also useful for wet things or dirty things if you have kids. I also take a few quart and gallon sized zip lock bags, I usually throw one in my pocket at the parks for whatever if I'm not carrying a small backpack to the parks a zip lock bag is great for putting wet ponchos in. I take 3 or 4 extra carabiners one always hanging on whatever bag I take to the park if I'm using one so I can hang my water bottle or a bag if I buy something or whatever. Other than that you really don't need anything else. You can buy whatever you don't take, it's expensive yes, but you aren't going to the ends of the earth. I also take some coffee and to go cups, both are provided in the room and you can ask for more but I just find it easier to have my own, again I drive so space is not an issue. I also take some sort of liquid IV in the hotter months and throw a pack in my water bottle at the beginning of the day.

Definity pack a water bottle, as previously mentioned. We use the collapsible ones because they fold down so easily and don't take much room. We also always pack electrolyte packets (Gatorade, propel, etc) and add them to our water to help us stay hydrated. Rain gear is a must - I bought a multipack of ponchos from Amazon a few years ago, and we're still using them. I also highly recommend some sort of back up battery for your phone, especially if you're using LLMP or using the app much.
