I might be just missing the thread, but I'm sure I saw a packing list posted somewhere?

We are going to WDW with our 9 month daughter in August and would love tips on packing/plane/touring etc (9 hour flight from the UK)

It will be my hubbie and I have been to WDW 4 times, so we know to take it easy and use the air conditioned attractions and shops A LOT!!! But this is the first time with a baby.

a hat to protect her from the sun (esp. with a brim)
sunscreen
a stroller (if you plan to travel with your own)
plastic links to connect a toy to the stroller so it won't get lost
a ribbon or something to tie on the stroller to make it easier to spot
snacks and a spoon for the parks
a sippy cup?
easy to wipe off bibs
crocs (because she'll want to fit in with all her angel friends!)
a lightweight blanket (for shade, my kids always burned worse when still and sleeping)
a little of your own laundry detergent (in case you need to wash, so new soap won't irritate her)

It's been too long. I'll have to see if I can think of anything else.

thanks MP - Lou wont be happy with the crocs comment, and hadn't thought of tieing the toys to the buggy! The buggy is bright green so wont have probs spotting it!

thanks all4fun, those lists are brilliant

Cami-

We took Maiya to WDW when she was 6 months old, and I got a yard of sheer material that I fastened on her stroller using velcro. It blocked the sun from getting directly on her, but still allowed breezes to come through. Also, she could still see out. I fastened to the shade so that it draped over the front of the stroller; think bride with wedding veil. Several other guests and CMs commented on how smart that was.

Also, some of the practicalities of travelling on the plane with a baby.

1. When my kids were daiper bag age, I never carried a purse on the plane. I stuck my wallet in the diaper bag, and packed my purse in checked luggage. One less thing to keep up with at the airport.

2. If you are planning on bringing her carseat, DO NOT check the car seat at the ticket counter with the rest of your luggage. If you bought a seat for her, and your carseat is FAA approved, you can use it on the plane. If not, "gate check" the carseat. This means you get a gate check ticket from the ticket agent at the gate and when you walk down the jetway, you drop off the carseat (and stroller) at a certain point. It does get put in the belly of the aircraft, but you pick it back up on the jetway at your arrival (and connecting) locations. It is a little extra hassle to carry it in the airport(s), but it's tough to leave an airport in a car without your carseat!

3. Feeding schedule be damned. Stick a bottle in her mouth during take off and landing to help her ears cope with the pressure changes. Pacifiers are OK, but the swallowing action that accompanies a bottle are more effective at popping the ears. This was a great tip given to me by a well traveled mom when my oldest was an infant.

4. Remember that if she is less than angelic on the flight, you will never see those people again!! And most of us that are parents have been there, done that and can be very sympathetic.

Have a great trip!

thanks jessica

we're not taking a car seat with us as we wont be hiring a car over there

there are things called "shade a babes" over here that i was thinking of getting ehr, but the material is dark and i'm not sure she'll like it.....they also sell a slightly different version which just expands the shade that comes with the pram

That is excellent advice!

Glad to hear you're bringing your own stroller (pram!) because they're invaluable in the airport...and walking to and from theme parks. I know many plan to rent strollers at the parks but it's a darn long walk to the bus stops sometimes - and most of it is out in the sun.

I know you're planning to use the cribs at the resorts so you may want to bring familiar sheets or a blanket so she'll know this is her bed.

If Miss Abbi gets fussy there will be lots of honorary aunties and uncles there with you to lend a hand. :goodvibes
