Packing Light

Our upcoming trip is 10 nights and we will be in 4 different hotels, combining business and vacation. We are starting with Disney, then a convention hotel, then a beach house, and then an airport hotel for one night. So there will be laundry facilities at Disney and the beach house.

We are traveling with a 1 year old. I want to pack as light as we can and I figure we can do laundry every 4 days.

Any packing tips? I always set out planning to pack light and do okay, but this time I want to be as minimalist as we can.

Find out fits that you can wear for both.

Maybe a sundress then a sweater or shoulder wrap for the buisness side trip
Maybe a summer skirt with a tank for Disney then a dress shirt for buisness(or use same shoulder wrap/sweater)
Capris could do double duty change up the shirt

Bathing suit is a must

Disney outfits could work for beach house

For the baby: an outfit per day you will be gone. Babies can go through them ;)

For hubby: kahki, linen slacks, similar type shirts(sorry not much help with hubby's stuff)

I guess the main goal should be to have a few outfits that you can dress up or add to make more buisness type.
Roll when you pack, help to minimize wrinkles

I would lighten the load for grownups, NOT for baby. You know what babies can do to clothes. :earseek:

I think more importantly than packing light, is going to be packing smart!! I would pack in plastic bags (or space saver vacuum bags even) and only get out what you need at each place rather than digging through everything. I would pack things that can be mixed and matched, and make a list to make sure that you have every day covered. I also would err on the side of too much rather than too little.

I can pack my son and I in one large suitcase for a 10 day trip (very close to 50 lb max) and I don't do laundry on vacation and I generally overpack.

We took DS8 and DS6 to Europe for 2 weeks with one carry on bag per person - nothing else. I got all my tricks from Rick Steve's website and forums. It really frees you up to be more mobile and enjoy the trip.

Awesome - I used his guidebooks before, but never looked at the website. We have a France trip coming up in a couple of years and his tips will come in very handy!
