Packing Horror story

My cat has ever done that!! Thank god, anyway, when we leave on a trip--I pack at last minute. I also have to have a cat sitter. They are left with special instructions with what has to be done daily. I am glad that my cat sitter loves cats!! :cat:

It's like anything...you adopt a pet like one of the family and they don't speak English so they have other ways of showing their emotions.

Our kitty has peed in our laundry basket...once because she got stuck in it tipped against a wall and the other time we don't know why. I laundered everything that was "hit" and it was fine...no lingering smell.

This makes me nervous about our kitty. The longest we have left her was 5 days and it broke my heart and now we are going for 8! My bro is house sitting a few nights so I hope that helps!!!! Oh, my baby with fur....

UGH!!

Our cat walked into the bedroom one day while I was on the phone. I was changing clothes and my shorts were on the floor. She peed all over them. That was the first step down a slippery slope that lasted about 6 years. The first time the vet said she had a bladder infection. Then she decided to pee in the carpet right in front of DS's bedroom door. ALL the time. So we put her on anti-anxiety meds. Didn't do much good.

Once she developed a taste for peeing all around the house that was what she continued to do. Two years ago we moved into a new apartment. I told DH the FIRST time she peed on something in the new place she was GONE. It took quite a few times before we took action. She would pee on the bathroom rugs, so we stopped putting them down except right after DS got out of the tub. So she would use her paw to open the cabinet and pee on the clean towels. So we put baby latches on the cabinets. So she started jumping up on the lid of the toilet and peeing on the seat cover. We finally had to have her put down last year. She was 14, which isn't OLD for a cat, but we just never knew what she would pee on next!

Watch that cat from now on. Cat pee all around the house is the WORST!

Boy can I relate, 3 yrs ago we got a very tiny siamese female kitten. She was good at first although tiny so we kept a small litter box upstairs, until our other female cat started using it and wheweee. We went with just one covered box in the basement and showed her where it was. She was good for a while. Then we went away for a week and she choose the corner by the front door, we used every different cleanser and deterent and nothing working until we put in a noise machine in that corner, that worked for quite a while, then she choose another corner, same routine, moved the noise machine. So far so good on that, however we have to be very careful with laundry and she will hit both the dirty hamper and any clean basket left around. She is such a sweety but we are going away again this Fri for 10 days and I'm afraid if she is bad again she will have to go.

I have a male cat that is about 8 years old. About 2 years ago, we started having issues with him leaving his mark on my new carpet and on the bathroom rugs. The bath rugs at least could be washed, but I was furious with the carpet - it was ruining my new house!! We took him to the vet who diagnosed it as a bladder infection at first. But, even with the meds, it still continued. Finally, after a year of putting up with this, we made him an outside cat. He is a new cat now. He has been living outside for about a year and he LOVES it. He loves laying in the grass and chasing the squirrels and birds. He is so gentle with the kids and loves you to pet him. (He used to be a scardy cat about everything :teeth: ) but not anymore....

My cat, Spanky, is always getting into my suitcase and rubbing up against it getting it full of hair. So I end up leaving it in the closet and having to pack at the last minute.

Your kitty just didn't want you to go away and leave him, that's all. That was all that he could do to try and keep you from going. I feel guilty already about leaving my two at home.

I am sitting her feeling guilty about the fact that I am not all packed yet and now I feel better. (We leave Friday.) My problem is I have nowhere to put the suitcases after, and not real room to pack in (and 2 kids, one of who often takes everything out of the suitcase or wants to "help" so she packs everything she can find!)

My cat isn't happy when he sees those suitcases come out, so you have just made me feel better about waiting!

However the darn thing (cat) has gotten stinky lately. He was laying next to me on the bed, and then my pillow smelled like cat pee. It wasn't wet at all and I don't think he peed on it. Some fabrezze did the trick, but I don't want this to happen. He is 11 years old and spayed, but and for the most part doesn't have a peeing problem. I can't go there, or I won't have a cat anymore. Too hard with kids to clean up after as it is.

Oh no! I think you have my SIL's moving story beat: She packed up her clothes to move and her DH dropped ALL the boxes off at a Goodwill donation truck.

I think I'd rather have the excuse to go buy all new clothes than to have to deal with cat stuff! Hope it comes out for you!

My cat does this too, he does it in anything that looks rectangular like his cat box like a cardboard box, gym bags, laundry baskets. I do think it might be related to bladder/urinary infection too or may behe's just telling me to clean the cat box!

EWWW! Cat pee is SO lovely! :flower:

Reminds me of my in-law's cat. He is the sweetest kitty but has a real thing for my FIL. They are the best of friends; however, my FIL is the enforcer. When Kittie does something wrong, FIL scolds him. Well, this cat will then search through the dirty clothes hamper and find my FIL's clothes and pee all over them. He does this constantly. He will also find my FIL's shoes, preferably his work boots, and leave a little surprise. It's all about attitude in his case - not a bladder problem. It's a love hate kind of thing. ;)
