Hey all!

Is there any fast and easy way to pack? I seem to always forget something.....Another thing it seems like I always overpack...LOL! Things such as toiletries and stuff (cotton balls, shampoo, toothpaste etc) do you already have them together? I heard some people just have all their toiletries in one plastic large make bag, and every time they go away they put that bag in their suitcase.....

Do you all have any suggestions for quick and easy packing?

Thanks All!

I use a hanging toiletry kit, something like this: http://www.ebags.com/travelon/hanging_toiletry_kit/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=9529

That way I can see everything, which makes it easier to find things.

I just put a packing list on the computer to make it easier when I travel. I also try to keep in mind that if I forget things that they do have stores whereever I'm traveling to. If you forget some toiletry type items the hotel may have some to hand out. When we went away a couple weeks ago we forgot my 4yo's toothbrush. We asked at the front desk and they gave us one--nothing fancy, but it did the job. I tend to overpack, also, but am getting better at bringing what I need and using what I bring.

That is the coolest bag!! Thanks alot! Actually that is something that will work for me! Thanks again!

That's also a good idea to make a list of things before you pack. I tend to pack the night before (yikes) and am in a rush to get everything together....Some people pack a week before....which sounds good to me...

I start gathering trip stuff quite a while before the trip. And then of course I make my list (I finally put it on the computer and customize it to the particular location and time of the year). I don't really pack until the day before, but having a lot of things together and the list made makes it so much easier. I make packing lists for my kids, also.

Since I have kids and pets, I also have to-do lists that I still need to put on the computer. I'm a list maker for everything, though.

Where in MD do you live? We're in Montgomery Village in Mont Co.

Im in Ellicott City, MD, right near Columbia, MD, and also near Baltimore (5 miles). We're neighbors! When are you going to WDW? Anytime soon?

I'm planning a few trips. One with only my DH, probably in late Sept/early Oct, another with my 4yo and meeting my sister and my 81yo mother in early Dec (my mom's first trip to WDW) and anther with my 10yo in late Jan (surprise trip for him). I never should have gotten that AP!

Looks like your trip is soon!

So it looks like you have the Annual Passes too! We bought ours in May stayed in a villa, now were going in August and staying at the Hyatt Grand Cypress. We're suppose to go back in November and New Years Eve....plus next year...LOL!

Where are you staying??

I use a packing list...but don't know where it is at the moment...I am sure there is one listed on this site somewhere ...but I think it might have been from Allears. Love them, I just edit down things I don't think I need:rolleyes: And I print out a second to use as a shopping list. I always save all my trial size samples for vacations, just never know when you're going to need XYZ.

When I shop at home / there are BOGO sales of items like trail mix, crackers, breakfast bars, mini muffins ...I stock up. Since there are 4 of us flying, I usually have one suitcase of food. Then on the flight home I nest the extra suitcase, so there is 1 less bag, if I don't need it. :smooth:

Don't forget to pack an extra bag in your suitcase. One that can be checked if need be. I find that going away on fun vacations, we always need that extra bag to hold souveneirs and other purchases we made.
I usually roll up a duffle bag and jam it in to my suitcase.

Excellent idea!

I also take small trial size bottles and fill them with shampoo, condition etc. I do the same with my vitamins I take 7 days worth and put them in baggies or film cannisters. I also take a large glad plastic bag to put my wet tankini in or dirty clothes.

Thanks for your tips!

That's another good idea! I have a leopard duffle bag (very large) that I can use to do that!

Thanks again!

Hi Brunette 8706....
You know I used to like those little bottles too, but I perfer the ones that are in a foil pouch. If someone is demoing them at the market, or if my hairdresser has a few samples I pick them up. Also love the little first aid indv.foil packs, Tyenol,etc...sometimes I get them in the mail...or also at the Dr's office I might ask for 1 or 2 just to have. I get wicked migranes...and like to always have a pain releiver on me, until I can get to my medicine(I always keep meds in safe at WDW). Also with little kids you never know what you'll need, so I usually end up bringing whole bottles of Benedryl/Tyenol/Singulair and Priolesec(sp), and their stuff takes up a lot of room in my cosmetic bag

But for me...I like to pack as light as possible....less to find on check out day:crazy:

Gosh I wish I could do that!!! LOL! I always over pack and then I never wear half the items...go figure!!

I'm definitely going to do that second bag trick....I just fold my leopard bag up and put it in my suitcase!!!

We pack relatively light. But my biggest tip is to pack matching outfits together. This way it's easy and quick to get dressed in the morning. For the kiddo, I wrap a pair of shorts around everything she needs for the day - top, underwear, socks.

Take half the clothes out remember no one knows you and you wont see them again so what it your wear the same shorts twice. I always take too many shoes so I cut it down to the pair I wear and 1 other.

I have a cheap makeup type bag that has smaller bags that go inside. I call it my emergency bag. I keep it packed all of the time. It contains things like paper clips, safety pins, band aides, sewing kit, stain remover, cotton balls, Q tips, matches, nail clippers. Anything that I buy that comes in individual packets, I will take out a few and add it to my bag. Nail polish remover, alcohol prep pads, bacitracin, sugar, equal, tea bags, crystal lite. I keep like things together in individual bags. I always have diarrhea medicine, upset stomach medicine and a pain reliever in there and I check the dates to see if any need replacing just before a trip. There has never been a trip that someone in the group didn't say I need a__________ or I wish I had a_________. My response has always been... It's in the bag.

I have always been a light packer and I don't mind throwing in a load of wash half way through the trip. I also like to pack things that can do double duty like a beach cover up that can double as a shawl, or a pair of fancy flip flops that can go to the pool and also to dinner. Here is a link to a packing site that will give you ideas on light packing.
