Packing for March?

The last time I went to WDW in March I remember laying out at the pool ( at the Treehouse Villas :teeth: ) and buying a sweatshirt to wear in the MK because I was so cold. Is it going to be as mixed bag as I remember?
Help me decide what I should pack for my boys (ages 8, 6, and 3) to keep them comfortable. Mostly shorts or mostly long pants? I was thinking shorts and tee's for daytime and sweatshirts to go over that for the evenings and early mornings.

Thanks!

Cathy

We're going in March too and I had been wondering the same. My boys are 6 & 3 and look forward to the responses!

We went once in march about 15 years ago. We stayed 5 nights and it was so cold the first 4 !!! We had to buy sweat shirts and re wear our long pants. The day we left was warm. This was the first week or so in March. We are planning another march trip this year, so we will be prepared for both kinds of weather :sunny:

My husband and I lived in Florida for three years. My advice would be to pack mostly shorts and T-shirts and then have a couple long pants and sweatshirts that you can rewear. Unfortunately march is a hard month to predict the weather unlike May-September when it is just plain HOT.

Mid March of 2004...we had 2 days hot enough to swim (over 80), the rest of the time we were comfortable in jeans & t shirts (low 70's).
Im only bringing one pair of jeans and a hoodie sweatshirt for the end of March this year. The rest will be shorts and skorts.
But then again, Im coming from Chicago, so I will be in the shorts if it's above 65

We went March of last year, and it was cool. And it poured. Every day. Yeah, not what we were hoping for since we normally go in August. But it was 60's to low 70's every day, and rained a lot. We had packed capri's and shorts, wore one pair of jeans for the drive down, and ended up doing laundry to have the jeans for more than a few days. I was glad to have extra socks because I wore my capri's more often than jeans and liked tossing on a new pair of socks and not having to deal with the wet bottoms of jeans dragging me down :rotfl: But I also had polo shirts to wear, and needed a sweatshirt or a light jacket every day. I'd say pack an even number of shorts/capri's and jeans. Make sure to pack extra socks for all as it really does help (and prevents blisters). We're hoping for warmer weather when we go back this March as well, but you never know. 54 days for us and I'm already checking Weather.com to see when they put up the forecast for that week.

Been almost 6 years since being there in March, but my experience was as follows....

We arrived at 8:30pm to warm 85 degree weather. Woke up the next morning to lots of rain and I believe it was 50's temps. (we froze). It stayed that way the rest of the week.

My family and I go the first week of March. This March, will be our third year. Both years we were there, we had days we could swim and days that we had to dress warm. The first year we didn't take enough warm clothes so had to buy sweatshirts. We won't make that mistake again. Last year, we had a couple of very cold, rainy days and then the most beautiful, warm day of both trips.

We are from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan so are used to very cold weather. Any Florida weather is warm for us. However, some of the nights at Disney was like our chilly fall weather after a beautiful warm day.

My recommendation is to make sure you have layers for everyone. Many days, we would start out in shorts during the morning and end up in long pants & sweatshirts by evening.

Don't forget the rain gear!

We've been there many times at the end of March. My kids tend to wear shorts, tee, and sweatshirt in the early am and switch to sweats if we are staying late at the parks for fireworks.

We went last year for march break, and have reservations this year for Mar 12-17 - last year I wore capris and a t-shirt every day, and a light jacket or sweatshirt in the morning that I could tie around my waist or stuff in my backpack for the warmer afternoons - it always got up to 75 or 80, and one day we even had 85. We're from Ontario, Canada, so 60 is balmy for me!! Capris work great because you're cool enough if it's hot, and you're mostly covered if it's cool. My boys always wore the knee-length surf shorts (capris are not cool for boys!), and they were fine. Have a great time!
