We are going for 10 days in sept. I have 2 boys ages 6 and 9. Here is what I was thinking of packing

8 under pants
6 socks
1 pair of runners
1 pair of sandals
6 shorts/swim shorts
1 cotton shorts
1 pair jeans
6 t-shirts
1 sweater
1 light rain jacket
1 dress shirt
3 pj's (they mostly sleep in underpants)
does this sound like enough. We plan on buying a few shirts or sweaters. I plan on doing a bit of laundry as needed.

If y'all are going to WDW, you won't need the sweaters. Make sure the shoes are comfy! Also make sure you pack panchos! It may rain, and as my wife says, "We paid this much, we're going for it!" :lmao: We also pack extra socks, and underwear incase sweating gets too bad. Hope this helps! :)

This looks good especially since you plan to do some laundry. I would have said more underpants (you just never know) & tshirts (in case of ice cream & drink mishaps), but with laundry you should be ok. Enjoy!!

Pack more undies and socks unless they wear sandals sometimes in the parks. Even though we do laundry, it's amazing the speed at which undies and socks get used up. If you do the park and then take a break for the pool and then back to the park, a child could change socks and undies after the pool. And then could change again before bed after a shower. Even without it, it seems like we go through a lot more than expected.

I'd skip the jeans - it's september. And the dress shirt unless you have a special place you're eating that you want to dress up for. I'd reduce the pj's if they sleep in undies. What my kids do is sleep in t-shirts and undies. That way, we can reuse the t-shirts when going down to the pool. (In which case, I'd throw in a couple more t's instead of the pj's. They take less room and can be used in more circumstances).

I agree with everyone else about packing more undies. You never know about accidents and besides, kids underwear takes up a very small space, so if it isn't used it won't really matter much and you can just bring is home. My dd once got sick on vacation, which resulted in diarrhea, and she ended up needing double the amount of underwear that we packed. Yes, we had access to a washing machine, but a load of laundry can take a while and when you need underwear asap, waiting for a load can be inconvenient. Extra socks are always a good idea as well, especially when your feet sweat in the humidity. Other than that, everything looks good to me. My dd usually wears underwear to bed and nothing else. I use to always put pj's on her and she'd have them off within 10 minutes after getting in bed, so i've just learned to live with the fact that she isn't a pj wearing type of kid..that battle isn't even worth it in my opinion. :goodvibes

I would 86 the jeans, sweater, & 2 sets of p.j.'s. September in FL is hot. We go in October for 6 nights. I take the following:

1 swim suit
1 runner
1 flop
6 panties
6 socks
4 shorts
4 shirts
2 dresses
1 p.j.

I usually do a small load of laundry for "just in case" clothes.

I don't bring rain jackets bc ponchos are more compact.

Have a Magical time!

I agree with more undies but also more t-shirts. With my boys they always want to put on a new shirt after they swim and also if you plan on going to dinner they will usually need a shirt change due to sweat, food stains, etc.

Good luck packing and have fun!! :yay:

We usually travel to the world in Aug/Sep but I always bring a light jacket or sweater for my kids. Even though it's very hot, they have gotten a bit chilly when sitting indoors at a restaurant or if they've been on the water rides then go in somewhere with the a/c blasting. Always good to have extra undies and socks. Shoes and socks get wet in water rides or if you get caught in FL's brief but pouring rain.

I have 2 boys, also, and we do laundry half way thru. That said, here is what we bring:

1 pair of undies for each day + 1
3 pairs of socks each (they mainly wear their crocs)
1/2 the days for outfits, + 1. So, if we are going for 10 days - we do five outfits + 1 = 6. Plus the one they wear down.
1 hoodie
2 pjs
1 pair of light weight pants - athletic pants or what not
2 pairs of shoes - the ones they wear on the plane + 1 more
1 swimsuit

When you say 'sandals' do you mean leather/nice velcro sandals? If so, then I'd throw in at least one pair of flip-flops per child to carry in your park bag for wet rides, rain, the new fantasyland etc. Sandals can take a while to dry too and FF's are fairly indestructible, easy to dry off and stick back in the bag. Plus they're great to wear to the pool and into the restroom at the pool.

One note about the sweater - I wouldn't pack one expecting to wear it whilst you're there but we always have one each that we wear on the plane. The whole trip it stays untouched in the wardrobe but we're always glad of it when we travel and thought this might help if you're planning on flying.

As a family we usually get though two outfits a day because we almost always head back to our resort for a midday swim, etc and then shower and change to go out for the evening. Some of what we've worn gets worn again another day but most doesn't - especially those things belonging to the little ones who've almost certainly got sun cream/ice cream/spaghetti sauce on them at some point :rotfl: I would guess at 6 and 9 you might have better luck than us with that ;)

I'd also not worry about the light weight rain jacket - although you will see plenty of September showers it's usually still too hot and humid for us to want that extra layer. TBH we don't even bother with ponchos but tend to either shelter or run!

Keep in mind that if you spend the day at the parks your clothes will be drenched in sweat. (And often the kids will have food/drinks on the front of their shirts.) Once you take them off, say for a swim in the pool mid-afternoon, you will NOT want to put them back on. That goes for adults too. So you need a complete second outfit to go back in the evening. That means a second pair of socks, underwear, everything is drenched in sweat.

We have been three times in October and all times it was over 90 degrees. I would continue to check the weather before you go, but I don't think you will need pants or sweaters.

I don't do laundry when I"m there
I pack 1 outfit +1 extra for every 3 days = so 10days I would pack 13 outfits
3 swim trunks (boys sleep in them so no PJs but mine are older)
water shoes, sneakers & sandals
I buy 2 big package of short socks & DH plus boys use them - it is nice when they can share )
1 outfit to go home in

with you having younger kids - I would be more worried about having to do laundry more than once but you know how messy your kids are & if they will eat Mickey Ice Cream :mickeybar:mickeybar:mickeybar

Also consider this:
Are you an airconditioning cranker? In our family we have two older adults who are constantly hot! It can be 50 degrees in the room and there flicking the air on high. :lmao: If your like this, bring a sweater. Personally I think if you pack a thin sweater (not a hooded sweatshirt) they dont take up that much room. I travel for 6 days and fit all my clothes and a sweater in a carry on

No way will you need or remotely want the pants and sweater, just wasting space there. I'd def. not pack those, it's going to be nice and toasty in Sept. I also wouldn't bring the rain jacket. I bring one for my dd (4), but only because the poncho's we have would drag past her feet. My ds (10) has just used the disposable type of poncho's since he was 7. Are you going to bring flip flops for the pool? I'd probably pack more underwear and maybe socks as well, just in case, otherwise if you're planning on doing some laundry then the rest looks good to me.

I think your list looks good if you're doing laundry while you're there. If you're driving, I'd pack enough to not have to do laundry. I would keep the pants and sweater just in case - even though you pretty much know it will be useless.

Things I'd add:
flip flops for going to the pool
more underwear

Also, were you saying 6 pairs of shorts and swim shorts together, or 6 each? I would not plan on them wearing swimming trunks to the parks because the lining can irritate. I would up the number of shorts by a couple. Otherwise, you may end up doing laundry more than once (which may be fine with you).

You've gotten some really great suggestions on here.
I would take at least 2 swim suits each for adults & kids. Who likes putting on a wet swim suit!?!
I agree with what a pp said who suggested outfits for 1/2 the days +1.
ITA with flip flops for the pool, too.

If you were planning for your kids to wear swim trunks in the park:
In the past, my DS7 wore swim trunks to Dollywood in the summer. We get WET! Last time we went, he fussed but I made him wear them. We just went yesterday & he started objecting so I just put some thin plaid shorts on him and he was fine. I've asked him why- are they uncomfortable or what? He won't say why- he just refuses. So, you might want to be prepared with regular shorts. The only place we really worried about getting wet was AK.

I was thinking that we would also likley buy a few t-shirts while we were there. I was thinking the sweater for evenings watching fire works. Will we really not need a rain jacket or light jacket for evenings?
