We're rentinga Full Size Car (Impala). Can't Afford a bigger car. Still looking for a better deal.

Just went out and bought new luggage for a family of four.

We will be bringing the following:
2 - 29" Luggage
2 - 26" Luggage
1 - 20" Luggage/Carry on
1 - Large Diaper Bag
1 - Mac Side-by-Side Double Stroller

Will all this fit in the the Impala truck?

There will be 2 kids in Car seats so there's a little more room below their car seats.

I just tried this in a Buick LaSabre (Car using to go to the airport) and it barely all fit.

Question: Is the Impala Trunk the same size as a Buick Labre Trunk?

I Know I should pack less but that never happens.

Thanks for your help.

I'm not sure about the trunk size, but had to comment...your packing list sounds exactly like mine. We'll be driving....bought a mini - cooler to put on the floor of the back seat. I was hoping to take the pack and play too, but not sure if there will be room for that!

You could probably look up the trunk size on Chevy's website and compare it to the leSabre. Or even go to a chevy dealership and just look.

You should also check into getting an entertainment book or making friends with someone that has one. We used a coupon from them last year for a free upgrade.

(BTW, Hi Neighbor! I'm in Merrick!)

Well I have an Impala and the trunk is HUGE!!! I can fit two dougliders (big suckers!) in there and still have room left. The diaper bag and such may have to go between the kids, but other than that, you will be fine. Everyone is always amazed how big my trunk is! Have fun!

You didn't say how long you are staying, or what time of year you are going; but that sounds like WAY too much luggage for 2 adults and two young kids. I've done 13 winter days in Europe with ONE 29" bag and two carryon backpacks for 3 people (laundry once); surely 2 large suitcases a diaper bag and a carryon should be enough?

Anyway, you will probably be able to fit the suitcases into the trunk if you are careful how you place them; but you will probably end up with the diaper bag and stroller in the car. (If you put the carseats next to one another, you can fit the folded stroller upright next to the door in the back seat, with the front passenger seat moved up a bit.)

I understand your need for all the luggage. DS#2 has health issues and requires us to lug around so much extra stuff. Plus, he seems to have to change clothes three times a day. And that isn't counting everyone else. Of course, I'm the always be prepared mom. But anyhow...

DH had an Impala for a couple of months as a company car and I'm amazed at how large the trunk is. That sucker is huge. Most SUVs don't have that much space. Exactly how it all fits together depends on how good at packing you are. Our neighbors always laugh at my DH because I do all the packing of the car; he just says I kick his butt at Tetris. :rotfl2: I can make space where there isn't any.

As far as better deals go on the rental...Entertainment books do have good deals on them (you can subscribe online just for a month to get some good coupons) or you can check out the codes at mousesavers.com. There are some other discount sites out there too. Do a little research and you'll probably come up with something good.
