OK, I know there are many previous threads regarding this...But thought I would like to get some NEW and fresh ideas going.

1. Aside from the basic's...What are some of the things you MUST pack for your trip to Disney?

2. When your driving to WDW...what are some of the things you MUST have in the car to pass the time if it is a long drive?

For us, WE PACK EVERYTHING I CAN THINK OS THAT WE MIGHT NEED. Last year I started taking my laundry detergant premeasured out in zip lock baggies (Wouldn't try this is we were flying...I can see them searching my suitcase and questioning what the bags of the white powder substance is), and my fabric softner sheets, bleach pen, and stain stick. Made doing laundry so much easier and I was the crowd favorite in the hotel Laundry room when someone needed something...I was happy to share. Also alot cheaper that way than spending the extra $ to buy it all there.

As far as driving down, we take travel DVD players, gameboys, books, snacks, seek & finds.

What does your family do?

We leave in 6 days...here's what I have so far on my "don't forget" list.

For Car: IPOD and CDs for adults as well as kids. Extra batteries for DVD headsets! Starbucks Frappacinos to keep Mom and Dad running! Water!

For Disney: more socks than we think we'll need...hate wet feet and most of a pharmacy. I don't want to have to go find ____ in the middle of the night--DD (8) just finished "Mouse and the Motorcycle" I don't think "Ralph" will come to our rescue and bring us an aspirin! It's the beginning of allergy season for us in NC so guessing it's in full swing in FL, gotta have the benadryl, cough medicine, asthma medicines, and tissues!

I was in Walmart a little while ago...anyone with small kids may want to stop by, they have new Disney themed coloring books and art pads...they were up near the registers at my store. I didn't get any because I think my 8 year old would say she's too old and know my DS, 11, is.

Lime Green Mickey Heads, you can get them at the Paint sample section of Home Depot. We always have some for our windows and doors in the Hotel or the Car.

Tissues, for some reason we never have tissues in the car. I don't like blowing my nose with a scratchy napkin.

Yep...I stopped at BJs and got the multipack of Puffs Plus to get us through allergy season! Scratchy napkins will do in a pinch, DH picks up a handful each time we stop cause he knows I'll run out of tissues!

:goodvibes

Started packing last Sunday.
For the Car: portable c/d's, c/d's, camera, purse,medical insurance,caa card,tickets,money,etc....
For the suitcases I don't really worry because if there's something I'm missing like underware and socks, Walmart is around the corner and we always stop there before heading to WDW. You can never have enough underware and socks. One year my littleist one forgot his toothbrush, so off to Walmart for a new one. I do usually bring the kids meds with me because they are different in the states too.

On my "don't leave home w/o it" list:

For the car:
-a bag in case one of the kids gets carsick- even if they don't normally, looking down at gameboy or other things that they are using to occupy their time can make them feel queasy. Better to have it and not use than to need it and not have it!
-Baby powder- I have 2 teen boys and they take their shoes off in the car. Need I say more? :rotfl2:
-Just remembered this!-- I discovered that taking along a Mary Higgins Clark suspense novel on tape and listening to it (using just one ear piece) while I drive keeps me awake! Got this tip from, where else? disboards!

For the parks:
-Our Brita fill n go bottles! These make the (free!) WDW water fountain water taste like spring water! :thumbsup2
-A cloth to dry the stroller if it rains while you are in an attraction.
-A bright bandana or something else to tie onto your stroller so you can easily pick it out of the 100 strollers it is parked with, esp. if CM's move the strollers!

this may sound crazy- but you never have enough underwear
....and socks....lots of socks....feet do sweat....:scared:

and spare change....
and handy wipes:thumbsup2
and a book to read ......(the book is for when you are not in a talking mood while riding in the car) and you are not driving, yet you wish YOU were, cause you'd be there by now....
:rotfl2:
:rolleyes1

can you tell I am a packrat and not good about riding in the car?:rolleyes1

Lime Green Mickey Heads.
Love this one!!!

We're taking a plane this summer, but we're def. including MP3's with Disney songs!!

As for the car ride, I sometimes take 8"X11" baking pans with lids, one for each child, full of things that are age appropriate...coloring books, Color Wonder markers, Mad Libs, magazines, books... Everything stays nice and neat inside of the pan, and the lid works as a writing/coloring surface. You can get these very cheap, under 5$, at Wal-Mart. Depending on your car, you can usually fit this under the seat, too, which helps with storage.

Portable fans, glow sticks from the dollar store, charger to cam corder and camera (this is a major item, as we've forgotten our charger to the camcorder on both our honeymoon cruise, and our last trip to WDW!!!:sad1: ), and I second the cloth for a stroller, if you are bringing one...I used a small vinyl tablecloth, which doubled as something nice to sit on to watch parades.

Those are just the things off the top of my head...I'm starting to think about this now, as our trip is just a little over 3 months away...but due to snow days, I will be working until the day before our trip!!!

Have fun!!! I'm jealous!! You leave way before we do!!!

every size of zip lock bags imaginable!! LOL!

CHargers fer everything, exrta batteries (Both rechargable and not)

my passporter! (DH would often say ..."What does your book say about...."

A pack of inexpensive washclothes in colors (SO as not to confuse them with resort towels). Pack a couple in zip lock bags...instand cool off rags!

Gave up driving to the world a few years ago, but I'm sure we'd pack our DVD players with TONS of movies!

Enjoy!

We are probably one of the few families left in America that doesn't own a portable DVD player. I do, however, have a laptop computer that I will be bringing along (I can't go more than 24hrs without internet or I get the shakes! LOL) Should I buy a portable DVD player for the drive from Michigan to WDW or get a car adapter for the laptop and watch movies on that?

Why don't you price it both ways and then make up your mind.

LOL Just the other day I changed "ziploc bags" on my pack list to read: "snack size, qt. size and gallon size ziplocs"-- it's so true. I'm going to be using the quart size to fill with ice for the small soft cooler that I take into parks. Snack size are great for organizing all of those little things that fall to the bottom of your bag.

Where can you find these? I've looked online at target & sports authority with no luck.

Hmm- I bought ours in 2003 at a local supermarket (Shop Rite) in the small appliance aisle w/ the other Brita items. I've since seen them in Boscov's Dept store and have bought replacement filters there. I haven't looked recently as I have all I need for this trip coming. I do see online that Brita has discontinued these. But I did find several for sale (new in box) on ebay.
Sorry here is a better link:http://search.ebay.com/brita-fill-go_W0QQfromZR40QQssPageNameZWD10S

Hope this helps- I originally had difficulty finding them too in 2003 but persons on the DIS pointed me in the right direction. The first time we used them I realized that the search was worth it!

I just bought 4 more replacement filters for my Brita Fill and Go bottles on ebay.
Got 4 filters for $10.57 (incl shipping)!
Added to what I already have, we should be set for several more WDW trips!! :thumbsup2

If you find the bottles and decide to buy them, I'd advise you to buy extra filters too. Since the bottles are discont., eventually the filters will be hard to buy too. :goodvibes
