Packing for 4 in 1 suitcase?

You guys are awesome. I am totally happy we are doing ME and this year it will work when we leave too since they started taking SW at AKL. I like the space saver ideas. And so smart to organize outfits in baggies!! I had forgotten about bringing home stuff too! Thanks. Although we plan on buying the big castle for DD and that will have to be shipped. We are going in May, do you think we will need jackets for fireworks??? We have always gone in early April before and really needed them. Hoping the movies on the iPhones will be enough entertainment for the plane. But I also bought a couple of those crayola color wonder packs at Target today. And little trial size things, like those little wisp toothpaste things, deodorants, clorox wipes, hand sanitizers.... Hmmmmmm what else do I need?????

I just love using the gallon ziploc bags. My DD is 7 so she helps me pack her clothes and even picks out her hair accessories. It all goes into one bag and I write the day of the week on the bag that the outfit is to worn. That way she just grabs a bag and gets ready while I can be doing something else. I also do this for my DS who is 2. My DH tried to dress him and ended up putting pajamas on him. It helps everyone out, keeps us organized, and protects the clothes should spills happen in the luggage compartment. Don't forget snacks for the plane. I also bring an empty sippy cup so when I get juice on the plane I don't have to worry about him spilling it everywhere.

these pictures were from our March trip - 2 weeks.

not that you should give a rat's backside what I think :lmao: but its still a lot of stuff. I suppose you can bring whatever when you drive. Since we fly, DD and I have learned to pack really light. Your bus looks like fun! Can I ask where you come from?

It's all in fun. But actually a few of the things you see in the picture belong to my sister's family. Our annual March trip consists of me, my wife, our 5 kids, my sister, her husband, their 2 kids, and our mom and dad. Thus the reason for the 15 passenger bus. This March was our 6th annual trip.

We come from Marietta, GA.

As far as packing light, our first trip to China - to adopt our daughter - we packed everything we owned - preparing for every possible thing she may need. Turns out, we didn't need half of what we took. So when we went 2 years later for our son, we packed light. The 7 of us routinely take weekend trips to Nashville, Savannah, Charleston, etc with 2 suitcases total for all of us. But for Disney, we go nuts.

Opps forgot to give family info... Myself, DH, DS (5), DD(21 months)..... I might be able to get him to take 2, but he has to handle them by himself as I push the stroller in the airport. Although he may prefer 2 lighter bags as compared to the super heavy one I packed last year.

You can fit all of you in 1 suitcase, definately.

Needs:
  • clothes - match up most of your tops with multiple bottoms. Pack 2 reserve outfits per kid
  • shoes - 1 pair of sneakers, 1 pair of sandals (you'll all wear shoes to WDW, only have to pack 1 set)
  • 1 long-sleeve top per person going, 1 pair of long pants per person
  • toiletries, share hair care with DH, same for bodywash (I use Ivory, DH doesn't mind the smell): for the kids, get some Johnson's 3-in-1 wash, you're all set. Travel toothpaste, deodorant, tylenol, sunscreen
  • swimsuits for each person
  • socks, undies
  • laundry sheets for washing (if needed), the multi-use ones
  • baby stuff
That's all I can think of. Best advice is to lay everything on your bed, and put half of it back.

If your husand has trouble rolling two bags behind him, you may want to look into the "spinner" type bags if it's in your budget.

http://www.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=58160&CatID=58160&Grptyp=ENS&ItemId=173c758&cm_mmc=ShoppingFeed-_-Google-_-Home%20Store-_-Samsonite%20Controll%20Luggage

They are SOOO much easier to handle (I can easily roll two by myself) and feel lighter when you're rolling them because the weight is distributed between four wheels instead of two.

And if you're husband is making it "easier" on himself not to have to roll two bags, he should help with the laundry since he's making MORE work for you. ;)

What about shipping a box to yourself to your resort? Thats what i'm going to do in a week, they say to use with UPS or Fedex... don't use USPS. Seems even though i'm a solo traveler, i try to take everything but the kitchen sink. So i'm thinking if i ship some of my toiletries, poncho, umbrella, extrac shoes, and snacks etc. ahead of time, i wont have to worry about over packing my suitcase.
