I would like to pack some of those small Sunny Delight (in plastic bottles) and Juicy Juice (in foil?) juice boxes for our flight. Will they be o.k.?

Also, has anyone frozen meat and cheese for the flight? Would they be is slimy or soggy when they are defrosted?

Since I can get a lot of B1G1 free offers - along with my double/triple coupons, I know it will be cheaper to bring food with us. I do plan on making a stop (Yourride) to buy sodas, so if the meat would be yucky I suppose I could buy meat at our stop.

Thanks and only 18 more days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have a happy Easter!

Are you bringing the juices on the plane to drink or to WDW?What we did was to pack a hard-sided suitcase with juiceboxes, bottled water,snacks(Handi-snacks,individual pretzels, gum etc...),a small jar of p.b.,jellycrackers and such.We checked this as baggage and had no problems with it.The kids threw a snack or two into their fanny packs before we left for the day and it was great!

As for the meat & cheese, sorry,I can't help you there:(

Hi,

We are bringing things down to WDW. I do have a hard sided suitcase, so I know squishing the boxes will not be a problem. I was thinking more that they would explode due to the changes in pressure??

Thanks for your reply.

They will explode from the pressure if they are not in your carry-on luggage. Yeck!! Better to carry them in bags on the plane with you or spend a little more at the stores in FL.

What about Capri Foilpouch drinks. Will they explode if checked?

Thanks.

be careful I brought juice in a no spill cup and it exploded in the plane when we were at a layover

I freeze cold cuts all the time. They get alittle icy and when the ice melts you are left with water. I just dab the meat with paper towel to dry and they are great!

We are taking mini soup cans in the plane since they will pop and burst in luggage.

What airline are you flying? They should give you food on the plane. Our flights have always given us plenty of food and if we wanted more drinks, they'd bring us more happily.

I get dry on planes, so I bring a bottle of water. S

The Capri's will give you the same problem. The luggage compartment of most planes is not pressurized. As the plane gets higher, the pressure drops on the outside of the container. So the liguid in the container expands and can cause it to burst. If the luggage is not pressurized, do not put drinks in it (unless you like wearing orange juice scented shorts . Frozen meats and cheese I am not sure about.;) )

I was told that most planes do pressurized the lugguge area's, Because so many Animals are transported by the airlines.

We packed drinks twice, bottled water and small juice boxes(like juicy juice) and had no problems with them exploding.I did pack them into gallon ziploc bags just in case there was a problem, but they were fine.We flew USAirways, but I have no idea what difference that would make:confused: .

I brought 2 12 packs of water (the small bottles) and drink boxes and there was no problem with bursting. Think also about other items you pack into your luggage including prefume, shaving cream, contact liquid, etc. Never had a problem with that stuff either!

Our first trip to WDW i packed a whole suitcase full of juice boxes and those tuna kits for quick am snacks {we arnt breakfes eaters} anyway no problem with exploding juices and we packed them for check in not carry on. For us though FL grocery prices are less than Boise Id so now i just do a quick grocery stop when we arrive, Good luck.

On a previous trip to Orlando I saw security opening up a passenger's shampoo bottles and examining the contents (actually analyizing it-pouring out liquid) So there's always a chance you could have your packages opened by security. I'm not saying it will definitely happen, but could and thus would be a waste of food and beverages. As for the frozen cheese and meat I would be hesistant to bring it down. Depending on the temperatures in the plane (on air and on land) you could have it thaw and then refreeze and thaw again thus making it prime for food poisoning. Especially if there are delays. I'd suggest buying perishables on arrival if you are already making a stop for soda, etc...

Security will probably not open sealed packages of juice etc... They will open any unsealed bottles like shampoo if you are selected for a serach. (I can't gurantee they won't open the sealed packages, this has just been my experience.) I will warn you that telling them not to open this stuff can just make them want to. My last flight I saw a man chewing out secruity for selecting him for search. He wound up being the LAST person on the flight and since this was SW this was not good.

I packed 6 or 8 Capri's in my checked luggage and had no problems...just put them in ziploc bags just in case. :smooth:

I have heard that you can send a package to yourself with food in it. You should get a refrigerator in your room. However, about 1 and a half weeks before your arrival date, pack a box with snacks, like chips, some pop, candy, Send some dry cereal down to. You can buy milk at the restaurant in the hotel. Plastic/Paper plates & cups, silverware as well, come in handy etc., and mail it to the resort, take the Polynesian, for example. On the top of the box, label it:

Name of Resort,
Address, Zip Code, etc.
ATTN: Your Name -- HOLD FOR [DATE] ARRIVAL. WILL PICK-UP AT CHECK-IN

The Resort will hold the box for you, and when you arrive at the check-in desk, let them know you had a box sent to the hotel, and they will get it for you, and you can take it to the room with you. This saves on food costs in the parks, and it is a nice thing to have with you at night.

I hope this helps because I was thinking about doing the same thing when I go in June.

I froze a 6 pack of OJ and checked it in with my luggage and it was fine. We did have it packed in a soft sided cooler and this was before 9/11. I wouldn't take the lunchmeat.
