I just got my packing cubes - any good strategies?
Do you roll your clothes tightly?

Thanks!

My husband is a packing cube freak!

He has packing cubes in every color and size.
Everyone in our family has their own packing cube but he is in charge of packing.
For the kids, he usually rolls everything because their clothing is so much smaller.
For the adults, he generally folds the clothing neatly and packs them flat.
Then we leave our clothes in the packing cubes and put the cube in the drawers.

Happy packing!

I just gave it a try! Tried bundling 7 shirts and then I tried the rolling version - rolling is much better!

I use packing cubes for underwear and socks and swimwear.
For shirts, I use the packing folders - they are rigid and I have less wrinkles.

I LOL'd when I read your subject line because I know a DISer whom we affectionately call, "Misspackingcube" because she is the queen of packing cubes. Her actual screen name is Missoutandabout. I have PM'd her a link to your thread.

Can't wait to hear from her. This is the first time we will be trying the packing cubes as well.

You rang? :lmao: Ah, Kookster... you know I can't resist waxing lyrical about the wonders of the packing cube!

My method might be a bit extreme. :rolleyes1 For the kiddo and myself, I will separate our outfits by days and put those into individual Ziploc bags. Those get labelled with the days and put into our own packing cube. I won't go through that much effort for the hubs; I'll just throw his neatly folded clothes into his packing cube. Each of us also gets our own Underoos cube; you obviously can't have Underoos mingling and fraternizing. ;) Yet another cube for the swimwear. The cubes get taken out of the suitcase and put into the drawers. I'll take my chances with the creepy-crawlies; I prefer to put the suitcases away and unpack to feel more "at home."

The reason I go a bit ... uh ... crazy :crazy2: with my packing cube/Ziploc combo for the kiddo and myself? It saves a TON of time having to figure out what to wear on which days, multiply that times 2 for us. Seriously. It makes getting ready so much quicker for us. No fuss. :thumbsup2

We did 12 Days in May with a Split Stay at GF/YC and then a 4 night Dream Cruise and the packing cubes were amazing. I agree with MissPackingCube, using zip lock bags is BEST, I just did this for my 3 kids not mine or my husbands. I used the Rolled Method for ours. I ordered a set for each of the kids and a set for each me and my DH. THEY ARE REALLY AMAZING !! I first heard of these on the DIS Boards, there was a organizing thread that is VERY LONG but inside once you find where they are talking about the cubes there is a lady who posted pics of her clothes packed in the cubes and how it all works. Really helped me out. Ill try and find the post.

Was this thread in the resort forum as this thread is or was it under a different forum?

I looove my packing cubes. Right now, they are in my suitcase mostly packed and ready to go. If it's not in there yet, there's a list of what needs to go into it. Usually have shirts in one, pants/shorts in another, underwear and socks in a third and a smaller one for misc stuff. A pp was right rolling is the way to go for non-formal wear. Did that all the time when I was flying routinely.:)

That's what I do. I prefer the packing folders to the cubes, for regular clothes. I can get eight pair of shorts and eight t shirts into an 18" packing folder, that fits perfectly into one side of my Heys carry on. However, I then use packing cubes for underwear, swimwear, and odds & ends. If I'm checking a bag, then I use a 20" packing folder for that bag.
