Ok, I can't believe we're (my dd 4 1/2yr and I) are actually going to WDW on Dec 6th!!!! I just realized it's not a dream!! Now that I have entered the reality that we are actually going...what do I pack? We are from Michigan (Detroit area) so it is winter here although it has been pretty nice so far (no snow or really low temps, yet). So what should I pack for 9 days and 8 nights at WDW in early December??? Help I'm starting to panic!! Also if any of you veterans have any non-clothing packing suggestions that a first timer like me wouldn't think to bring let me in on your secrets. Thanks a bunch!!!

I live just outside Orlando.I would pack sweaters for night time, but being from up north, you would be hot in pants,so shorts and tees. If you are staying on property, then you can leave to change, if you do get too cold with the shorts on. The weather is strange right now. Last week the highs in the day were 50-60's, today, it's 73.But, at night it is chilly. I hope that helps you out somewaht!

Try not to over pack!! I over packed my 1st trip to Disney and never wore half the clothes I packed. Do you have a washer and dryer you can use were you are staying? If you do, try to pack like 4 or 5 outfits per family member then maybe do a load of wash one night. I always pack a jacket and a pair of pants or capris any place I go. Same for my DD. DH is on his own for packing.

( I know alot of people do not want to do laundry :laundy: on vacation)
We rent a house off site so I don't mind tossing in a load or two at night. :goodvibes

Since we're from the cold north, the 50-75degree range in Florida feels like spring to us. Pack with layer potential built in--lighter weight slacks, sweatshirts, short sleeve shirts under, and a light jacket that can go on top of the sweatshirt if it gets below 50. Don't laugh, but our kids always wanted to swim no matter what the outside temp, so pack suits. Some things to avoid packing: heavy jeans, bulky coats or sweaters, towels, bathrobes, multiple shoes (settle on your most comfy pair and throw in a flip flop type for pool or room use), hair dryers,. Pack any prescriptions and over the counter remedies for anything (cough, headache, sore throat, upset tummy, etc.) as you are NOT going to want to track that down just because somebody has an upset tummy or headache... If you don't want to do a full-blown laundry load, wash out a few items in your sink and hang them up--they'll be thoroughly dry in 1-2 days just hanging on a hanger--so bring some laundry liquid. use travel size as much as you can--don't pack a normal hair spray or shampoo, use travel size and what is in the resort. I echo the overpacking--you won't get "dirty" so can always wear some things a couple times. Save room for purchases or have them mailed home. Finally, relax and enjoy :thumbsup2 we've travelled to WDW many many times and have always "forgotten" something! but hey, you're on vacation--chances are, no one will know you forgot it but you!

We've been busy all day with packing. We're leaving this Saturday for a two week trip to The World. :cool1:

I agree...pack with "layer potential" in mind. We also check accuweather.com for the long term forcast but only as a guage for what to expect because of course, in ten days the weather won't be what it says...but at least it gives an idea.

I also just downloaded and printed the "ultimate packing list" from themouseforless.com (here) and of course I won't pack everything on the list but I figure it will help me not forget anything important. I think I need to join overpackers anonymous...LOL.

Have fun and maybe we'll cross paths while we're there. ;)

We leave this Saturday as well! I have been checking the forecast daily. Maybe we'll run into each other.....I'll be the mom with WAY too much stuff for just one child!

PS - thanks for the link for the packing list!

Right now seems like mid 70's for a high that week. I will be there Dec 8-12 and I will be packing capris for every one plus t-shirts may one or 2 pair of shorts and a pair of jeans. Usually need a jacket in the morning and late evening.
