Packing all the princess dresses?

For our last two trips, DD2 wore a princess dress every day. DH was a bit reluctant to take up so much space in our luggage, but we were able to squish them down to reasonable size. Space Bags do work wonders. We brought a back-up outfit to the parks each day in case she wanted to change, but she loved the attention so much, that she just kept her dresses on the whole time.

I completely agree about the shoes. She wore her regular sandals or gym shoes, depending on the outfit.

We took at least 5 dresses for each of our two girls last summer when we went. I didn't even think about having them change during the day....they were so into being princesses that they wore them all day without complaint (even that huge Elsa dress), whereas when they were in their regular clothes they would complain about the heat. I don't know that I would do multiple changes throughout the day, but we planned the dress they would wear based on the park we were going to or what we were doing there (like we wore Belle dresses when we went to BOG and wore Anna and Elsa dresses when we did the frozen summer of fun package, etc.). I would probably skip most of the shoes and accessories, though, unless it is something you know your child would wear all day long.

For my 4 year old, Merida was a must. I also have the Belle Christmas dress, which we took for the Christmas party. (We had decided to do 4). We also tookthe Anna Coronation dress and Zarina. When we went to the BBB though, we took her over to Castle Couture where she picked out Snow White.
For the 2 year old, we took Repunzel, Anna and Tinkerbell.

Oh goodness what adorable pictures! Loved reading everyone's experiences. Have decided we will bring 7 dresses and no shoes or tiaras-possibly a couple wands since they'll double as nighttime lightup entertainment (so I won't have to fork over as much money on glowing stuff). Thanks for not making me feel like a crazy person for wanting to bring it all. Actually got them all packed up and squashed down and they barely take up any room. Also labeled them by princess name and park thanks to someone's great suggestion.

I'm totally going to look for glitter hairspray, and good tip about spraying it outside the room! Thanks! Have practiced a few princess hairstyles and can whip up a sock bun pretty quickly and her hair looks especially cute in the Belle style (which is super easy to learn with the cute girls youtube diy video btw!). So i'm excited.

And I just got done doing that autograph book I mentioned in the first post. It was so fun seeing how DD wanted to pose. Like for Tinkerbell, she wanted to hold a hammer. Since DD is a tad shy, I had her come up with the things she wanted to tell/ask the princesses and just typed them right into the book. Hoping it helps make for an extra special interaction for her.

Thanks, everyone! Really appreciate all the advice!!!

Pack just the dresses in spacebags, no accessories...they'll likely get lost anyway. When she wants one on, just throw it on over her clothes (less likely to itch that way too). We did that for a week with my nieces and it worked out great. It saves time changing too. She can pull it off and on as wanted. The girls switched princesses during the day, but never had to change their clothes. So much easier.

You know, the princess days are so short when you look back at it. I would do all I could to make her dream come true - at least the dresses are light in a backpack. We packed DD's in those extra large ziploc bags so that we didn't glitter everything else in our luggage. I did draw the line at princess dress-up shoes, though!

We use the ziplock bags, and let the air out of them so they are super flat. We don't bring any accessories and only one cute pair of shoes but not the dress up kind

I would let her bring one for each day. The changing in and out of dresses is going to get over whelming. Or at least it would for my little princesses. I also always packed leggings and long sleeved tees for under the dresses at night.

Each trip we have allowed the girls to choose one special dress in Disney, and brought a brand new one before we go. The special Disney dress ALWAYS trumps the older ones. And it is always something they dont already have. For example, we have purchased a BEAUTIFUL Alice in Wonderland dress, Ariel's Ballgown, and a Halloween Minnie costume that was not available at our local Disney store.

So that might help with the packing and unpacking.

My DD5 had the same idea! When we were planning our trip she said mom I want to meet ever princess. I said ok. She said I want to meet every one while wearing their dress. Well she already had them all and I supplemented a few extras lol. I packed them all in blk garbage bags in a hanging bag. Thank you Southwest 2 bag policy! I brought a few crowns but most purchased bows from Etsy to match her costumes. We were there in May so I knew my DD was not going to tolerate the heat so each day I had a shorts outfit that matched her costume for her to switch into. The shoes were not happening so I bought her 2 pairs of shoes again off Etsy. Each pair was hand painted w 4 princess on each. They looked cute w the costume and her other outfit. I carried one of the 1.99 bags you can purchase from Disney Store and each day I packed it w what we needed that day. The costumes fit inside and I could hang it on the back of her brothers stroller. On a side note should you have a little guy DS was 3 dress him up too! He had a costume to match each of his sisters. Lol I might have a sm shopping problem lol I wish I knew how to post pictures. Also we had a great time meeting other non princess characters in their costume too. Russel and Dug were so excited to see my Wilderness Explores but the best had to be Buzz and Woody at HS. I had found a Bo Peep costume for DD. The CM that walks you in announced to Woody that his girlfriend was there. While he danced w DD danced w Woody, buzz opened the blinds and waved at the people outside to come watch them lol. DD was on cloud nine all day lol.... Sorry I hijacked your thread... Take all the dresses she wants... They are only little so long : )

I guess I'll be honest here. NO! SAY NO! You will not want to pack all of them and bring them let her bring 4 favs and then thats it.

When we bought ours i packed them in Ziploc bags sucked all the air out, then hung them when we got to the hotel in the bathroom. We also bought a small hairspray can to make sure that glitter stayed as much as possible.

Yes its cute but those dress are hot. I prefer to order custom dresses that are cotton and breathable.

You will want to bring along a change of clothing for her. By mid am my daughter wanted out of the dress and into shorts and a tee. We also used glittered canvas slip ons. They are sparkly and comfortable.

I agree, skip the shoes. We bought the ones from BBB for DD last year. She loved them and insisted she wear them all day. I was the mom who what's trying to convince her to take them off. The next day? She was so blistered she had to ride in the stroller. :(

Agreed! My DD would not even buy them for DGD. She looked so stinkin cute with her Princess finery and little white sneakers with red blinking lights. And way more comfortable than the little girls with blisters on their feet.

We brought them all last trip and forgot a bunch of clothes for my DH to make them fit :lmao:

Well worth it, DD only visited WDW once when she was 4 and will never forget it.

Danced with the Beast in her Belle dress, her fav moment of the trip even when meeting Anna and Elsa in each gown of their gowns.
We had Sophia, Snow White, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and of course her first favorite princess Tiana - took pics with her in matching gowns as well.

If I was to be honest with you, you wouldn't want to hear what I had to say. So I just won't say it.

We set the limit at 3 dresses plus they had to wear their regular shoes. It was hard to pick her favorite three, but it worked out well in the end. I also jammed them in Ziplock bags and sucked the air out. They were no worse for wear.

I really like the idea of over-the-clothes outfit changes. And the Disney store 1.99 bags-got a "few" of those, and it will be fun to use them. Since we are going late Feb and have 3 MK days and will take afternoon naps, I'm thinking we likely won't even have to bring too many dresses each time. So now I'm thinking of bringing more but only a couple at a time to each park. I guess one benefit of FP+ is knowing when a few of our meets will be.

PLUS I have it on good authority that the currently on sale Disney store dresses will be another 25% off on Friday. How can I resist updating her size 4, barely-fits Belle dress?

I know you said no accessories, but if you bought a crown that didn't have a picture of a princess on it, she could wear the same crown for all the disney princesses. No one will notice the difference, same with the scepters
