I don't think this is a problem but I want to make sure. I want to throw in a bottle of champagne and a bottle opener into our checked baggage for our trip. Is there a problem taking this over the border?

You must declare it at customs when crossing. Indicate it is for personal consumption. It should be no problem.

But given the prices of alcohol in Canada.. why on earth would you buy it here?

:)

Only if you get caught:lmao: Seriously, I have packed a bottle of booze with no problem (never a bottle opener though)....but then again I didn't tell them it was there. But my SIL packed a bottle let them know about it and they took it away...with no explanation.

No problem on the bottle opener...but I agree with Canadian Guy:) Try something new there...for cheap! and available everywhere:):)

yes, for personal consumption.

make sure you put it in your checked luggage.

We have done it many times for a brand we cant get there.

For future reference, where on Disney property could I buy alcohol? I was bringing it along because I thought it was more convienent to have in the hotel room. Also, we don't get in until midnight.

Great question, hope someone out there knows....
DH wants booze, badly, not excited about Disney at all. (He's really cheap, doesn't want the expense, but we're going for a wedding, hoping he'll change his mind due to Disney magic, or the booze, I don't care which ;) )
Us Winnipegers pretty much have to have a stop over, usually at an American airport. Could we buy booze there at a duty free or something? Do they then let you take it on carry on as long as you don't open it?

Any info is appreciated, I've never been at an American airport. :confused3

My God, I think you're DH & my fiance may have been seperated at birth! "We've" (read: I'VE) decided we're honeymooning at WDW next year & all he wants to know is where can he get a drink!?!?!? As far as your duty-free question, my best suggestion is to call your airline & find out what's involved with the new regs. My current plan is to take an empty "carry-on" for the flight to Wpg to TO, shop at Duty-Free & then try to get the "carry-on" into checked baggage. I figure that'll bypass the no-liquids rule. Also, I've read that SOME duty-frees let you pay here & pick up at your destination. Any chance you can let me know when you find out?

Hmmm, DH suggested buying booze :drinking1 at the Orlando airport when we land. That's why I married him, he's so smart! As long as we are quick we could catch the Disney Bus, I heard the bus waits for several flights. Maybe we can find out a departure schedule as our holiday gets closer.

Maybe we could have the booze waiting for us at the Orlando airport Belly -- think the DFTW department would arrange it...:rotfl: :rotfl: ?

Yeeeah. They could. But the whole point is to buy the booze for cheaper than what crazy Disney would charge.

Have to remember to pack a bottle opener. Don't need a wine bottle opener, I only like to cheap stuff. :thumbsup2
