Packing Advice

I will be packing everything tomorrow - I have two large suitcases and one smaller one. The small one will be used for food so we have something to bring our keepsakes home in - the food will be gone!

My kids like to bring the little suitcases with them but I told them they can use them as carry-ons. I will be bringing our backpack - too bulky to pack so I will use as my carry-on. I am wondering if I should use another carry-on for toiletries - does anyone else do this?

OK for the bags - my husband said he saw a show and they said to roll everything. I have never tried this and don't want to get there and find out everything is really wrinkled. Has anyone tried this - does it work? Does it take less space?

OK final question. We are there for 8 days including out travel to (arriving 8pm) and departure (leaving 5pm). How much is a reasonable amount to bring? I am planning to wear capris most of the time and my son has the zip off pants, my husband says he will wear shorts unless he sees snow and my daughter will wear whatever I pack - but she is a little fashion goddess. We all have spring/fall coats and zipper hoddies. We all have runners and sandles.

Advice?

Be careful what you pack in your toiletrie (sp?) carryon. No nail clippers, razors, etc allowed on the plaine in carryons.

My DD is a "fashion goddess" as well. I found that I pack clothing in the same color family so that different outfits can be made by mixing and matching things together.

Make sure you have sweatshirts etc. The evenings in February can get a little chilly.

We each bring one really nice (semi-dressy) outfit in case we feel like getting dressed for dinner one evening. As for the parks I wore capris, DH wore shorts (just like your DH - no snow, wearing shorts), DS wore those pants that zipped into shorts and DD wore capris and skorts.

Have fun....I'll be packing this time next week.....well I have started already..... :cheer2:

Remember you can do laundry if you need too. I'm a bad one to give advise though since my family knows me for my over packing. I do roll stuff -- especially tee-shirts and shorts that won't wrinkle.

The weather can get cool in WDW. I would take at least one pair of long pants for each person in your party. Probably more for the kids since they seem to get the dirtiest. On one December trip we started the trip in long pants, long sleeve shirts and jackets and then by the end of the 9 day trip we were in shorts, tees and able to go swimming.

Dina - sounds like we have a carbon copy family - I have capris and skorts for my daughter too!

I am going to try not to overpack - but it is so hard!

Don't know whether you'll see this in time, but I do roll everything and find it works pretty well. Most things can be just shaken out a bit and they are fine, something dressier might need to be ironed, but that happens even if I don't roll the clothing.

Lately I have been using my kitchen island and standing there rolling the clothes and putting them in those really large ziplock type of bags. It is so much easier when the bags are checked by the security personnel and nothing gets messy. They commented to me that they wished everyone would put their stuff in those, as the guy put it, "I really don't want to be touching anybody's dirty shoes, or anything else for that matter!".

Just my .02! Have a great trip!
