My youngest brother was in a really bad motorcylce wreck about 3 weeks ago. He has crushed his wrist and ankle. They have told him he will be lucky if he gets 95% usage back in his foot. They have finally moved him over to rehab, but it will be a slow recovery. He has no income right now and wants to move in with mom, but I am not sure if my father can handle it. He has very bad pain from the neuropathy in his feet caused my diabetes. Hopefully he can stay with one of our other brothers. (I have 3)
Aww I will be praying for your brother too!!!

Totally OT but Thank you (and everyone else). My friends death has been a horrible shock. Babies are doing okay. Poor dad was one of those guys who had never cooked a meal/given a bath!!! But he's learning. Currently, everyone is doing okay. First couple of days were rough (baby was solely nursed and the 3 yr old...who may be autistic...just wandered around yelling "mom"). Baby had a rough transition to formula/bottle (we couldn't even put stored breast milk in it because mom died of pneumonia and the CDC called and told us to toss any stored milk cuz it could have passed). Okay seriously...that's the end of my sad story for today (this is a board about the Happiest Place on Earth for cryin' out loud)! The important thing is that they are doing ok!
Awww such a sad story, breaks my heart. They are lucky to have you in their life.

Thanks! He always thinks everything is "too much," so I usually don't ask. I think because Megan wasn't here I wanted reassurance. Yes, I trust Megan's opinion more than his (she has to wear it, after all).

Yeah, I am going to drive up Friday and spend the weekend with them. I think Jacob misses me but Megan could not care less! :rotfl:
Yeah my DH is the same way....! Megan is such a little cutie. I have to ask though....has she ever DISLIKED something you sewed for her? I bet not!! Hahahaha.

Ohh sounds like you will have a great weekend!!!!

Here are a few photos of Star Wars shorts I made for DS, the fabrics are two panels that are for making pillows or hangings, and I added a cuff. I'm really disappointed how they turned out, I don't like how Yoda & Darth's heads are cut off. (But don't worry! I bought 4 more panels to make more!) But he LOVES them, and that's what counts, right?

And here is a pair of pirate shorts that I made to match my DD's pirate twirl skirt:

DSC_0027.jpg

DD and I went to a discount/fabric store today and found the cutest pink fabric covered in Tiaras! And she picked out some great space themed fabric for DS (so I can make shorts for him.)

It was DD's ballet show this weekend, and for the occasion I made ballet "swishy pants" (AKA gouchos!) and I did a simple ballet shoe iron-on a t-shirt we just bought.

Now I'm getting ready to make a peasant dress for DD with some Ariel fabric I found. And I wasn't able to find any of the pre-shirred fabric here in Canada, nor could I find lobster fabric anywhere! (I found tarantulas, radishes, watermelon, cabbages, hunky fed ex guys, bikini-clad girls on Harleys, and a whole wall of Christmas fabrics. But not one Lobster. Oh, well . . .)

Off to sew buttons on DH's shirts now.

Bonne Nuit!

Stephanie

Those look great! I bought those pillow panels and let DS8 (now 9) make himself a pillow with them. He was thrilled!

:worried: :worried: Please pray for my family !!! I feel that things are just getting worse in my life, my headaches are worsening and I am scarred to go to see my neurosurgeon as I know that I will not get good news,...then this morning 6:00am my husband was on his way to work on his bicycle and got hit by a car, the driver took off , my husband was knocked out on the street, no one stopped to help but a homeless guy who ran and called for help, he was taken to the hospital, Thank God he is OK, nothing serious but the tendons in his right hand were badly damage and will need surgery...I feel like I am falling apart :sad1: :sad1: I am so sorry to be so off topic but needed to let this out of my chest...

Thank you for listening

linnette

 So sorry about your DH! And I'm sorry your headaches are getting worse again.

I posted this over on the crafts but, thought you all might want to check it out. They look super easy to make. It would make good totes for water parks or well all kinds of things. You ladies and guys are creative. I am thinking WDW bags, Disney store bags (it's been so long I forget what they look like  ) etc.

Anyone see them? There is a tutorial over on etsy (click). I saw some for sale at Target (click) but, I couldn't bring myself to buy plastic bags, lol. I have a couple of disney bags left over from our trips. Why oh why did I toss most of them. :( Anyway when I get done I will post some pics. Here are some other cute ones I found online: here, here, and here.
Those are just wallet styles but, imagine them in a big bag faaabulous! There are lots of cute bag styles at etsy (non-disney) to give you good ideas about what kind you could make.

so.....who has some bags they'd like to share ;)

hmmm... those are cool! I've been "spring cleaning" my bedroom and found a TON of Disney and Legoland bags in my closet yesterday:idea: For some weird reason I could not bring myself to throw them out. :rotfl:

I am sitting here planning dd4's "Disney" dress. She wants a patchwork twirl skirt. Well after doing the math I have to cut 65 squares! And that is being modest. I may want to double each tier instead which would mean...120 squares....okay maybe not double. that is crazy!

You could make rectangles instead. I think Tom had a formula for making the rectangles wider for each tier, then you don't have as many. I have to make 70 squares for a patchwork twirl skirt for my DD2. That is making each tier double the width of the last (10 squares for top tier, 20 for second, 40 for third) It's a lot of work but I love how it turns out!

:wizard: Hope your DB recovers quickly and completely and stays off motorcycles.

I am in the middle of a winie the pooh outfit with the circle neck. Wish I bought the one on YCMT because the McCalls one is not a favorite of mine. It used bias tape...I hate bias tape. After using CarlaC's patterns it is hard to go back to commercial patterns!

I just found out my friend down the road is moving in 2 weeks! I am so upset. I would say she is the closest thing to a real friend that I have IRL. Her daughter and mine are the same age and have been friends since they were 2. My dd13 babysits her kids often and love them. Why do all the good ones leave? And she is not moving close. She is moving to Wisconsin! That is forever away. I need to make her kids some crayon roll ups with their names on it so they remember us. :sad2:

I think the YCMT one uses bias tape or a rolled hem which I'm not sure is any better.

Sorry your friend is moving.

Do the rectangles and use a rotary cutter! It will go together faster!

I am terrible with names, I need to keep a notebook and write down everyones name so I can let you know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Linnette, I am sorry your headaches are worse and that your DH was in an accident. Sometimes, life just seems so unfair.

I saw CarlaC's bowling shirt listed & will be buying this weekend! I love her patterns, they are so well done, unlike the commercial ones! I rarely buy them anymore, I just buy the YCMT patterns!

I love everything that has been done recently! I do read and think you gals & guy are all fabulous! I will be working on some appliques this week, oh and a crib & bumper set for my next grandgirl due next month!

Ok, so I would really like to make a wallet and maybe a small purse for my daughter to use at WDW...Does anyone have a disney shopping bag or 2 that they want to get rid off? We have never been to disney and don't have a disney store near us or I would never ask.

OMG my son would LOVE them!!!!!! Where did you find that fabric???

I live near Toronto, Ontario - and I found them at Fabricland in Cambridge. Unfortunately they don't have on-line shopping. :(

Those shorts look great!

I was at an arts festival this weekend and saw a little boy (1 1/2 to 2) in a Lobster button down shirt and thought of you. It was SUPER cute too!!!

I found some online:

Thanks for the links - I would order the fabric on-line, but shipping to Canada is usually outrageous! It really gets to me that shipping from anywhere in the US to Canada is so pricey. :furious: I have a friend in Boston that I could ship it to if I can't find anything here. Thanks for all the info though!

I have tons of them! where are you located. I can mail them to you. PM me with your addy and I will send them your way. I have buzz, princess, camp rock and the large ones with different characters on it.

Sorry to hear about your friend moving. Where in WI is she moving to? It's not so bad up here, maybe you could visit sometime.

Where do I find a pattern for wallets/bags? Do I just use a commercial pattern? Do I just use the bags like I do fabric, cutting out the pieces from the pattern?

Yeah my DH is the same way....! Megan is such a little cutie. I have to ask though....has she ever DISLIKED something you sewed for her? I bet not!! Hahahaha.

Ohh sounds like you will have a great weekend!!!!

Hmm, you are absolutely right, I can't remember her disliking anything! :rotfl2: She is pretty easy to please. Sometimes she says "I want to wear regular clothes today please" and that's the closest to rejection I get.

Thanks, I will!

This is the link on how to fuse the bags toghter.

http://etsylabs.blogspot.com/2007/05/long-overdue-fusing-plastic-bag.html

Back a few pages to the original post, she showed pictures of some ways they were used...and of course I haven't taken the time to figure out multi-quote yet so sorry i couldn't help more.

So cute! I saw Jewel on Nashville Star last night with a top/dress with this neckline with 2 bottons and my 1st thought was one of the girls on the sewing thread just made this! :rotfl:

I saw Jewel wearing that last night and I immediately thought of all the round neck dresses/shirts we have been seeing around here!

:rotfl2: :lmao: That is too funny!!!! She is a little cutie, that is for sure!!!

Just back from moms and my mom is the bomb! She helped with the bias tape and it looks great. Now, I have to try and attach the round neck pieces to the top. I am not sure if Sara beth will wear this to Disney yet. We have so many outfts planned and not enough days!

mom2prettyprincess : I got your PM and will mail it out tomorrow or Thursday.

Jajone: I don't know where in Wisconsin yet. I will ask. I think she said outside of Milwaukee.

I am going to stick with squares for the dress. I will just rotary cut rectangles than cut again. Shouldn't be too hard. I think I am going to Frankenpattern it with carlac simply sweet dress for the bodice.

I'll be arriving at POR 9/7, I can't wait to get there. Would've been neat if we overlapped more. Your pictures looked great! I'm attempting to make some items, (I'm brand new to sewing clothing), but I just can't seem to get enough time to get it done. I haven't seemed to be able to get more than 15-30min at a time in my craft/sewing room. :-)

Julie

Yeah no kidding we could've crossed. I am new to sewing clothes as well. Prior to now I didn't really do to much. I have so many hobbies I just jump from one to the next. Cake decor, crochet, woodworking, now sewing, scrapbooking, you name it! I made a couple of dresses for my DD, they were all the same pattern and still not one of them fit. You would think I would have figured out what to alter but whatever. I only sew when my husband is home. Maybe an hour or so a week. So when he is here I have to get it in gear.

You did a great job on the Minnie shoes, bag and bracelet. Where did you get the "parts" to make the bracelet? Did you paint the shoes?

The parts for the bracelet...I hunted everywhere for beads and gave up. I ended up buying wooden beads at AC Moore and painted them and the Minnie is polymer. Then I put it on clear stretchy string from the jewelry making dept. I couldn't do any clasps because DD would break out.:( And the shoes...yeah I painted those. I got Mickey scrapbooking button things and traced them and then freehanded the bows the best I could. Thank you so much!

Ok, I was on :wizard: looking for some good mickey fabric for shirts for the boys for our birthday bash at the world and I bid way too much for a yard of Marie fabric that I had to have. If DH knew he would FLIP. Still didn't find anything for the boys shirts....though I did find some mickey and friends holding presents that I think would be good for a birthday outfit for the girl since we will be there ON her actual birthday. I'm making a minnie outfit for her for the day we go w/ my rents and sister and then a birthday outfit for her to wear the next day with just our family for her birthday. Where should we have her birthday dinner???

Since we are celebrating their birthdays can I get the boys "it's my birthday" buttons or is it just wrong???

..t.
