is so excited cant wait for saturday morning to arrive !! the weather is missrable, pouring with rain and sooooo cold so i thought id pack my case to cheer me up !! tho i found it stressfull !! but i think ive packed everything!!
but a quick question....regarding hand luggage can you put hair straightners in it ? was not sure because of the wire or would i need to put it in the suitcase?

cant answer your question on hand luggage but would like to wish you a great holiday on saturday. Tell mickey I was asking for him and will see him real soon.:thumbsup2

I always have wires in my hand luggage so I would say it will be fine in there

Have a great time

Hair appliances are the last thing I need, DW doesn't use anything either so had no experience upto this Feb when DMIL took something(don't ask me what) it wouldn't work, only worked on 240v not like most electical items that are variable voltage (110~240v) so check it says 110~240v or it won't work.

oooo the straightners are 240 volt and i also have y digi caera charger which says input 240v, so they would work ?

thank you for the happy holiday wishes i can not wait slept about 3 hours last night just overally excited haha im like a big kid !!

If they say 240v only they will not work.
They must say 110v~240v
US is only 110v so not enough to power something needing input of 240v.

I would expect the camera charger to be 110~240v they usually are.

Ahh that's interesting. When we were in Vegas my straightners worked but no one elses did, I guess that's why.

right its a casio litium battery charger input AC100-240v so i take it that mean 100-240, gosh i didnt realise this voltage thing !! and i just bought this camera for the trip !!

Yes that will be the reason.

Yes AC 100~240V is fine it will work on any input between 100V and 240V (US 110v, UK 240v)

thank god for that !!! thank you im an even happier girl now !!

another question that i was just thinking with the TSA locks are they just needed for just coing back? or is it best to keep it on both ways as i usually use a combi number lock on my cases ? :yay:

Don't know much about the TSA locks. Never locked a case yet in over 100 trips abroad.
If anyone wants to get in a case it takes seconds, whatever lock is on there so we just don't put anything in them of value and leave them unlocked.
Both UK and US security screening want access to cases both ways, if they are locked they will remove the locks.

so while we're on the subject of electricity - do you have the proper plug for your camera charger?
a plug that will fit a wall socket in america?
you can buy them in the US, but it's easier if you bring one with you..

hi beth, well i usually go to europe and have always used the european plug from the pound shop & noticed they had a usa one so ive bought that since ive never had problems with the european ones ! but good question !!

I was just going to say look in your local Pound store:thumbsup2
You can get them delivered from around £1.50 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/UK-USA-US-AME...ctronics_PowerAdaptors_SM&hash=item1e642c4438

We also take a 4 way extension something like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/4-Way-Mains-G...ctronics_PowerAdaptors_SM&hash=item4aa9cb8b12
Sockets are often limited in hotel rooms so with 1 adapter & 1 extension we can charge 4 items in at once. Although we do take a lot of electical stuff (3 laptops, wireless router, 3 cameras, 3 phones, 3 MP3 players:rotfl:) security do not like me at all:goodvibes

lol i bet security dont !!

we r only taking 1 pair of hair straighteners and a camera battery charger, was thinking of taking the mobile but its a contract and dont fancy racking up a huge bill as i can be a bit of a facebook addict knowing me id use the wap to check my facebook all the time !

You come across open internet connections to update facebook, you don't need to use any data.

my phone is a new its a windows 7 htc on O2 and all i know is the home screen tiles are live so dont know if its sorta connected to the web all the time !!

i could turn off data roaming and live on wifi would that still allow me to acsess wifi spots for free ?

Thats how to do it, only connect via Wifi.
I know its really easy on my HTC Wildfire, should be similar on yours.

yes, just make sure your data roaming is turned off....
roaming charges can be more than the entire cost of the holiday...
