Please tell me if I understand this correctly...

If I have a package with MYW + DDP, I cannot have just an AP for myself? Every person on the reservation is required to have an AP?

No, you have to purchase everyone in the room at least a one day ticket including yourself. Then at check in you can add more days to the other tickets and save your one day for another time.

Really? Okay! I called and asked to do this and the CM told me I could not. He said even after check-in, everybody on the package has to have the exact same thing and said if I upgrade one ticket, I have to upgrade them all.

Is it more expensive to do this at check-in? Like paying gate prices?

We've gone three times with the DDP. I have an AP, but the people I was with did not. I bought us all one day MYW tickets, then upgraded theirs to whatever they needed at resort guest services and then just kept my one day ticket to use at a later date (using my room key for the dining and my AP for park admission--(just never put your room key with your one day ticket on it into a turnstyle and your one day ticket will be good forever). You can keep it either on the room key or you can go to a park guest services and they will take it off and give you a mylar ticket. As far as your family's one day ticket they will give you credit for whatever it cost (around $72.00 with tax, I think) and they'll just pay the difference to upgrade it to a 7 day or whatever they need. It cost us about $130-$150.00 apiece.

Sept '05 I didn't understand the system and bought myself, as well as my son and D-I-L 7 day MYW tickets with all the pluses. When I got down there, guest services at MK asked me why I did it (since I had an AP), told me to use my AP, and took my 7 day ticket with pluses off my room key and gave me a mylar ticket (which I have yet to use). I took it back last Sept just to have them check that it was still good and guest services at DTD ran it through and assured me it would be good for as long as I had it, as long as it was never put into a turnstyle. Anyway my point is, buy everyone in your group (including yourself) one day base tickets, upgrade their tickets to whatever they need once you check in, use your AP while you're down there, and save your one day ticket to use at a later date or even to renew your AP later. (I've done that with one of my one day tickets).

I booked the Bounce Back program for free dining Sept 29th-Oct 7th when I was down there in Dec and made a point of telling the CM I had an AP. He said 'well you'll just want to buy one day tickets and upgrade your traveling party's when you get there won't you? You do know you can save your MYW one day ticket to renew your AP later don't you? Just put it up and don't use it in Sept. but everyone on the room must have at least a one day ticket in order to book the pkg." Which of course I knew.

In order to have the DDP added to your room, everyone in the room must have at least a one day park ticket, then they can take their room key (which is also the DDP and park ticket) to any guest relations area ad have however many days they would like added to it, and you can still use your AP!

This is all very interesting and I did not realize it could be done this way. I have an AP and DDE from our Thanksgiving trip that I could use for our July trip. I also have a AAA membership. After crunching the numbers, I could almost break even with the dining vs DDE with 15% off a deluxe resort. I mean last year there were know real AP discounts in July. I looked at receipts from last trip and averaged $205 per day on food!!! This was for 2 adults, 2 teenage DD's and 1 6 year old. We ate CS breakfast every morning, snacks or CS lunch or dinner and another sit down meal per day and snacks. The meal plan would cost us $167 a day. So, that's a savings of $38 per day on dining and the 15% on the room through AAA. It works out to be about even if I go with the package vs holding out for an ap rate.
