If you book a room and tickets together is that considered a package? Do you have to book DDP to be considered a package? Sorry if these seem like dumb questions! Thanks for your help!!

Not a dumb question at all. Yes, room and tickets are considered a package. There are many other "options" to add to packages including the dining plan and recreation.

Thank you for your quick response! I was going to book room only, but would rather book a package since the deposit will only be $200. Now if I book 2 rooms with tickets is this considered 2 packages? We have family coming with us and I will book the vacation all together. Just wondering if I will need to have my s- mom mail me her half of the deposit before we get ready to book.

Just wondering, do you want a package or are you trying to stay away from one? There are different rules about how much and when you pay for a package and a room only reservation. You can get a room only reservation and buy tickets separately if that is what you are interested in doing. It does not have to be a package.

From my experience for our family at ALK...2 rooms = 2 deposits. Have fun planning!!

Yes it would be two pkgs and require (2) $200 deposits.Be aware there are also more "rules" for pkgs compared to room only.

What I'd like to do is pay the deposit on each room and then pay the rest of it off with our 2009 income tax return. (our trip will be for may 2009) The reason I ask about a package is I think it would be less money up front for the deposit. I am planning on the WL and I know that if you book a room only rate before the new rates come out then you have to pay the holiday pricing for one night's stay. This is @ $370-$390 I think. If I book as a package the deposit would only be $200 for each room? What rules are you talking about? Do you think it would cost me less in the long run to book room only and buy my tickets elsewhere?

The rules are pkgs must be paid in full no later than 45 days prior to checkin. Then there are cancellation fees and change fees.Plus trip insurance loss etc.Not really sure of all the specifics since I always pay well before the 45 day mark and have never( knock on wood) had to cancel.Plus the $200 deposit is due immediately at booking, where room only deposit has 14 dyas before it is due. With a room only, as long as you cancel before 5 days you get all your money back. After 5 days you lose your deposit( i think). Also with room only , your balance is not due till check-in.Hope this helps you.I always do pkgs because I like the ease of it.But that is just me.
