Package v. Room and tickets question

Hey guys. I have a room only reservation. If I buy my tickets through Disney, will that turn it into a package? Can you even have a room only reservation and then buy tickets? I dont want to mess my room reservation up.

It will not turn your reservation into a package. You have to buy it that way. You can have a room only reservation without tickets and you can add tickets to your MDE at any time. I had tickets before I had my room reservation for my trip in October, since I bought them before the increase. I just added the room. The only need for a package is to get certain offers that require it (like free dining). Otherwise you are just fine.

You don't have to buy your park tickets through Disney. You can purchase park tickets through a third-party seller and then link the tickets to your MDE account.

Sorry to hijack this thread......If a room only reservation is made at 499 days out, and the price goes up prior to the check-in date, am I charged the higher rate?

Yes. RO reservations made for dates in the future where the rates have not yet been released, will be made using the then current rack rate, and the one night plus tax deposit collected at that time. Once the rates for those dates are released, your reservation will be adjusted to reflect the new rates and you will be asked to make an additional deposit of the difference between the old and new rate.

All of this will be explained at the time of the reservation (you have to call for these types of reservations) and the terms will also be spelled out in the email confirmation.

Yes, you can buy your tickets through Disney or through a third-party seller (like Undercover Tourist). You would then link those tickets to yourself and others traveling with you in your MDE account. Buying them online is the easiest thing to do.

Simply purchasing tickets on your own through Disney or another seller will not turn your room only reservation into a package. Calling up CRO and asking them to modify your room reservation by adding tickets would.
