If I book a package with free dining, can I get the tickets as regular paper tickets and not on our keys? We have AP's and really don't need the tickets. I will probably give them to someone who can use them. TIA

Yes. You can get your ticket issued as a paper ticket. You can ask them to separate it at the hotel. As long as you don't use the ticket, you can hang onto it and use it towards renewing your annual pass (one ticket per annual pass).

You can transfer them (give) to someone else.

You can also sell them if they have not been used.

This is actually not true. Unused tickets can be given away, but they cannot be sold. That said, no one is really going to know if you sell a ticket to a friend or relative, but I would not suggest trying to put it up on craigslist or ebay.

So, since I have an AP, and have bought a one day base, can I save it as a paper ticket til next year, and upgrade it to a 7 day hopper or whatever?

That's correct. Totally unused tickets never expire (and can be upgraded at any time), so you can definitely save it for next year. You don't need to switch it to a paper ticket either if you don't want to. Even if you leave it on your kttw it won't expire and you can just bring the kttw back next year and use that for the upgrade. (The dates listed on the kttw are simply the dates that you're staying at the hotel, and not the expiration date of the ticket)

Thank you so much! I have an AP but DS does not, so I will def use this to cover part of his ticket on a later trip ;)

The only possible issue with saving the ticket to upgrade later would be if Disney changes their tickets to something different from the current MYW tickets. In that case, I assume the MYW tickets would only be able to be used as-is, similar to how the pre-MYW park-hopper tickets cannot be upgraded and just used as-is. Because of this, when we needed to purchase tickets with a package this summer when we'll have AP's, I purchased tickets that we'll be able to use as they are without upgrading. We purchased 10-day non-expiring with the water park option that we'll use on future trips when we don't have AP's. I'd rather purchase that than a one-day ticket that I'm afraid would only be good as a very expensive one-day ticket that cannot be upgraded. But, I'm probably just pessimistic that as soon as I purchased a ticket with the intention of upgrading, that's when Disney would change their ticket structure again!

So, I book my package with the 1 day pass only, can I then use cheaper passes I buy from ticketmania for the rest of the vacation package days?

You can do that, but I'm not sure it would really be much of a savings for you. You'll wind up paying more initially to get the one day pass plus the discounted ticket. You'll still have a one day pass in the end which you can upgrade for a future trip, but unless you have definite plans to use that ticket I'm not sure it's really worth laying out extra money now to get a slightly cheaper ticket for this trip.

but I want to use the 1 day as the first day pass?

Probably the best thing for you to do would be to simply buy a ticket for however many days you need as part of your package. If it's too late for that you can stick with the 1 day ticket and just take it to guest services and upgrade it to add however many days you need. I'll give you an example below... you don't say how many days you're going for, so I'll just do this with 7 days.

If you take the 1 day ticket (worth $75) and use it for the 1st day, then get a discounted ticket for the next six days you would pay $214.98 for that ticket (this is from undercover tourist). The total price for that option would be $289.98 (plus tax)

You could take the 1 day ticket and save it (again, worth $75), then get a discounted ticket for seven days. You'd pay $214.98 for that ticket from undercover tourist (the 6 day and 7 day tickets are the same price there), again for a total of $289.98 (plus tax), but in this case you'd have a left over 1 day ticket.

Or, you could simply get a 7 day ticket directly from Disney. This would be $228 (whether you get it now or get the one day ticket and upgrade it). This is your cheapest option.

HTH,
Brett
