I am going to be in Florida to visit my best friend for a few days at the end of February. I decided to add in a quick stop at Disney with one night at Pop Century. Last night the package price for 1 night, standard room on 3/1 with a 1 day Magic Kingdom ticket was $243. Today, the exact package is $257. It doesn't make sense. If I do a room only reservation, the price is $136 (with tax) and a separate ticket purchase is $99 (plus tax). If I book a room only reservation & buy my ticket separately, it comes out to about $241 - roughly $16 cheaper than the package.
Ugh...it just annoys me that I could have saved a little money if I had just booked the package last night. I booked just the room last night. After seeing the increased price this morning, I called to change it over to a resort package & the CM tried to tell me they didn't have anymore standard rooms & they would have to put me in a preferred room. That doesn't make sense because I was online while on the phone & there were still standard rooms available for that night for packages. I told her I would think about it. I wonder if there really aren't any standard rooms left for packages & it just isn't reflected online yet, but that's why the price is increased?
Should I keep the room only reservation & just buy my ticket separately and link it to MDE? Or, should I book a package to get the MYW benefits/discounts? My teenage daughters have put in requests for things at Basin, so that 10% discount could definitely come in handy...LOL

It could be that the package you were viewing online was the last standard room and you had it tied up so no one else could book it. The online reservation process should take the room out of inventory once you select it, and put it back if you don't follow through with the booking.

Each permutation could be in limited supply, for example there might be plain standard rooms and package preferred rooms without dining and package standard rooms with dining available but no package standard rooms without dining available. Also, inventory for different permutations may or may not interact, for example if you book a room-only standard, the number of standard room packages in some categories may decrease.

You seem to be aware of pricing, and subtle price differences. With that in mind, I would call the reservations line by phone and actually speak to a live CM employee. You can get insight into what's going on by doing that, and get questions answered. Whereas online, you can only speculate.

It seems as though most prices went up today. I looked yesterday too. The "Spring Deal" isn't 30% off anymore either.

The Spring discount offer went down pretty much across the board by 5% today, so prices are slightly higher. It was part of the offer; book by Feb 16th to get 5% more off.

Yes I missed the info that the deal was changing today. Not a huge deal but if I had known I would have booked yesterday.
