Suppose to get down to around 34-35 in Orlando. Around 39 where I live a bit south of Orlando. That is at night. Should still be nice during the day. It will make the oranges sweet.

I agree.....pack well! When I was there last week I was shocked at how cold it was when the sun went down! During mid day shorts and tees were okay, but at night we had to bundle up!

I'm in FL-a little north of Orlando and we have been in the mid 20's the last couple nights with more expected. We usually have these cold spells now and again in the winter. Lots of wind here too.

My parents live one hour north of Orlando and they had frost this morning and a hard freeze predicted for tonight!

Thanks for the info guys I was just getting ready to post a question about what to pack for our January 17 trip.

Is it really warm enough for shorts and tees during the day?? If so, I will pack some of those too. Is it too warm for jeans?? I'm definitely packing our sweatshirts.

This is our first trip in January so I am completely unsure of what to pack. I sure could use any advice you have to offer!! Thanks for your help.

Maybe you'll use up this year's "cold weather allowance" now...

...so that by the time I get there in February it will be warm for me!

My advice is to check the weather online the week that you leave! It really CAN vary in FL. Where I am in FL(north), Dec-early Feb are usually cold, with a few warmer days thrown in. Orlando is a bit warmer and has more warm days I suppose. But cold snaps can happen and linger, so DO check and see what is predicted. There is something funny about seeing northerners in shorts and t-shirts in 30 degree weather trying to deny that they are cold! All I can think is what would this poor person do and wear when it is 100 degrees and 100% humidity!? 35 degrees may not be cold to some, but being out IN it for 4-5 hours while on vacation might not be fun. ;) Plan to bring jackets and jeans for sure, but do check and see as it may be a warm spell the week you are there. :sunny: Maybe jcemom is right and the cold weather allowance will be spent by then! :teeth:

I was there 2 weeks ago. I'm from PA and it seemed very cold when it got down into the 40's in the evening. We did not wear shorts the entire week. Most days jeans, a couple days cotton pants. I think one day got up to 75, the rest were in the 60's, Saturday 2 weeks ago was a high of 55. We were glad we brought our winter coats for some of the evenings. I had a denim coat with a flannel lining, it came in handy in the evenings, plus gloves. Luckily the 75 degree day was the day of our MVMCP (12/9), so that night we just wore jackets. Stay warm! :D

Thanks for the info guys!!! I'm going to be packing my jeans, jacket and gloves too. It's about 28 degrees with 3 inches of snow on the ground here in Southeastern Kentucky right now so I know all about cold weather, but like BibbidiBobbidiBoo says it's quite a different matter when you're out in it all day.

Thanks again!
Carla

We were there last week and the temp varied drastically. From 75 in the afternoon to mid-40's at night. (of course it seemed warm to us) I would layer or bring a change of clothes and rent a locker. Nothing more miserable than trooping around the park and shivering.

I agree with the suggestion to pack a change of clothes... sweatshirts and jackets are not cheap inside the parks. We ended up buying them one night because we were not prepared.

What I like the most is the hooded sweatshirt jackets. If the high is around 60 it can be hot when you stand in the sun, but chilly when you are in the shade. This way I can take the jacket on and off. For my children its layers. Take them off when they get hot and put them on when they are cold.
I leave in 7 days!!!!

We went last January for the first time in the winter to Florida and were surprised at how the "damp cold" affected us.

I forget about the humidity in the winter down there.

It's very dry up here in MN in the winter.

herc.

If your can stick it out, the parks clear out at night when it gets cold. We were in WDW for the past three years the week between Christmas nad New Years. It was cold (high 20's, low 30's). We found that everyone was leaving the parks at night, so we stayed and got to do everything we couldn't do during the day. Just duck in and out of the shops for some warmth. Personally, I think the cold nights added to the Christmas atmosphere.

Thanks for posting this! We leave in just a few days!:D

Like a lot of folks, my first December trip I was shocked how cold it got. Granted, it was some record cold weather but we're talking burlap wrapped ornamental palms with heaters blowing on them cold. And, don't forget there are a lot of outdoor nighttime activities. Polartec is a great thing.

It can also swing wildly during the course of a week, ranging from 25-80....pack layers and gloves. (This Sunday morning it's in the 40's in Orlando).

Just checked weather.com...... mid 70's during the day, and mid 50's at night. No hats and gloves for me!!!
