Pack-n-Play question...

We're staying at the Grand Floridian on our next trip. Trying to decide if we should get a pack-n-play from the GF or rent one from ABBF. Don't mind the cost of ABBF...just wondering if anyone has had experiences with both and if one was cleaner than the other or better for any reason?

Well, my opinion is that if you think for any reason you may need to rent a crib than do so ahead of time from ABBF. We did not do this and the PNP we got at ASSports was fine, I wiped it down with Lysol wipes, however DS1 WOULD NOT sleep in it. I tried to contact ABBF but apparently they only operate on the net which I didn't have access to so they never called me back. I looked in the phone book for rental places and found one with a crib. It was awful, filthy,filthy dirty, the wipes that I was using to clean it were coming off back. The mattress had a hole in it and one of the slats was loose. What a nightmare! Needless to say my DS did not sleep in it and ended up in bed with us all week. So, if for any reason you think you will need a crib, please order it before you go!

You might also want to try to call the Grand Floridian directly and see if they have cribs available. Central Reservations may tell you only pack n plays are available, but at the actual hotel, they might have cribs. I got one at Animal Kingdom Lodge/Villas and it was brand new. The pack n play was brand new too. And they provide sheets. If the sheet is missing, or you need a clean one, you can housekeeping and they'll provide you with a new one.

The cribs are travel size cribs, so they're about same size as a pack n play-- just higher off the ground. It kind of looked like a baby jail, since the bars were grey metal.

When we stayed at the GF in May ('07), mousekeeping brought us a "real" crib versus a PNP. Like a PP said, it was a smaller crib (travel sized) and it DID look like a baby jail! LOL I'm not sure if GF always has "real" cribs instead of PNPs, though. Maybe you could call GF directly and ask?

Mousekeeping has always provided us w/ a couple of extra Disney themed sheets for the PNP.

Thanks for the replies! We normally bring one too, but with luggage fees, I figure we can either get one from resort or rent one (rental fees would be about same as roundtrip luggage fees less the hassle of lugging it around!). I will defintely call GF and ask as well.

(wuv tigger...you a VT grad? I graduated from there in '95. Blacksburg is great - I love going back whenever I have the chance!)

for $70 we got a full size crib for a week, delivered to our resort, set up, and the bedding. It was nice not to have to bring our own. Their bedding was nicer than what we have at home. The crib was full size. It was a commercial crib so there were no parts, no exposed hinges, no assembly! To think of it, the crib was as nice as the one we have at home. I can't say enough about this company. Great website too!

We had a packnplay (Graco) from disney at CSR and ASMo. Both were in good condition with the CSR being in alittle better shape. (I figured they probably get more small children at the values). The one at ASMo had a few stains, nothing major. I was fine with it, and believe me, I'm the woman who wipes down every surface before my poor family can barely get in the door. I did as previous poster and took a few lysol wipes to it. If you're sure your child will sleep in it, then I'd just do that. Why hassle with a rental and also have to pay a fee. You can also request bedrails for kids sleeping in a regular bed.
