pack n play and privacy

Anyone have some advise I can use? My DD1 is a very light sleeper and when she wakes up she thinks she is supposed to get up. At home she does great because she can't see us (in her own room, door closed), but when we travel, and we have her in our room, if she wakes up and sees us she wants out even at 2 in the morning. We are staying at CBR and want to know what we can do to prevent this from happening. She will definitely go to bed before us, but I am worried about in the middle of the night.
Any suggestions will help. We will need our sleep.

I am not sure if this will help or not, but we would always tuck towels or blankets and wrap around the outside of the pack n play. That way they could not see what or who was right in front of them.

I am guessing at 1 she is walking or at least able to pull herself up and stand and stare at you! Not sure what you can do about that unless some where in your room you can sortof tuck the crib away in a corner or something.

We always travel with a sound machine too, that helps all of us sleep better.

I put the pack and play over against the wall by the door or bathroom in the most secluded place I Could find. Then I covered the pack and play with a light blanket, making sure there was a space at the top for air.....worked pretty well with our son.

Some of the Disney hotels, have a little curtain to pull across the bathroom area, we put ours near the bathroom door and just pulled the curtain...Chances are they will be so tired..they wont be up too much during the night...

At AKL, there was a little space by the sinks we could set up the pack and play and DS (8months then) could only see us if he stood up and looked around the wall. Contemporary room configuration didn't have this and we ran into the problem you talked about. We then had one person stay with him while he fell asleep while others were out of the room. It was much more challenging at Contemporary than at AKL. The values have a way to set up a shower curtain right by the sinks as well. Not sure about the room config. at CBR.

Thanks for all your suggestions. I had wondered if the packnplay would fit in the so called closet area by the sinks and then pull the curtain. I guess we will just have to hope she is so tired she won't want to get up .
Any other ideas will be appreciated.

They have this at CBR, so you're ok as long as she doesn't wake up when you use the bathroom. (Outside the door the the toilet/shower part of the bathroom there is a tiled area that has the vanity, area to hang clothes and enough space for probably the equivalent of 2 pack&plays and the curtain can pull across that.)

However, when we travel it is tricky because she does not always have her own room to go to sleep, etc. Using the curtain area has been a lifesaver for us and getting her to sleep well.

I used to clip blankets around the outside of the pack n play with chip clips (not the wide kind, but the skinny kind that grips strong, can buy at Dollar Tree). It helped block the light out, but since the blanket was on the outside, they couldn't pull it down.

During our last stay we used the curtain at Carribean Beach and then also brought a tension shower curtain rod and a king size sheet that we cut slits in the sides of. We placed a chair near the porta crib and then pulled the curtain. Without the chair dd could just pull the curtain open enough to see us. We then put the tension rod with the king size sheet going the other direction. This made a little room for dd and blocked her from looking int he full length mirror that was on the bathroom door. We were then free to use the bathroom and one sink at night. During the day we simply lifted the sheet into the sink area. This worked great for us!

The porta crib will cover a small area one of the sinks.

Our next Disney visit is at Boardwalk. They have a different layout and no curtains; we have not figured out what to do there yet. Anyone every bring portable room dividers?

Wow I guess I was lucky! My DS's will sleep through anything! When they were little I had their pack'n'play in the living room for naps and they got used to sleeping through whatever was going on. Bedtime was in their room and was quieter to denote that they should sleep through the night. Only suggestion I have is - that with my first DS, I had a tented cover for the pack'n'play which was to keep cats out actually, and it did block the light etc from the top and had air vents. Didn't bother with it for 2nd DS as the cats never bothered with the babies anyways!

You are lucky. My first DD was and is a great sleeper once she falls asleep. This 2nd one likes to sleep but wakes up easily. I think she is just afraid of missing something. She is so nosy.
I had heard of the tent, do you know how much it costs?

This may sound mean, but maybe you should try putting her in your bedroom for a few nights before your trip and don't try to be quiet when you go to bed. If she wakes up and wants out, let her cry and tell her you're not getting her out because it's nite nite time. We do this with our daughter on trips from about 6 months on (when she could pull herself up and look over at us), and she learned really quickly that crying wasn't going to get her out, so she just gave up and went back to sleep. I just suggest doing this before your trip so you don't have a screaming baby in your hotel room. If she doesn't get the idea before you leave, then I'd resort to the other tricks mentioned here. I was particularly glad we'd done this when we took her on a 8 day cruise when she was 10 months old. There was absolutely no way to keep her from waking up sometimes in that teeny tiny cabin, but it wasn't a problem because she already knew by then that we wouldn't get her out until morning.

I looked online for the crib tents and although I cannot find exactly what we had, (ours was light blocking) they have clear mesh ones for anywhere from $40-80.00. Different kinds for fitting different cribs etc. Since it's tented you could always throw a beach towel across the middle leaving the sides for air (which also comes through the pack'n'play).

My Ds (at 11 months) would toss out the sheet and then the entire bottom to the packNplay. We also tried behind the curtain thing that was fun. He just about ripped the curtains down. He really is a good boy, just didn't want to sleep in a packNplay. He mostly slept in bed with me.

Does anyone know if this "curtained-off area" is available in the values?

We have ressies for 9/1-9/9 at CSR but have to move our dates due to family illness, and we're thinking of switching to value (since it will be just me, DH, DD, and DS - inlaws were going before). We're looking at 10/13-10/21 and either AS Music or Pop Century.

We stayed at AS Movies last year and I didn't notice any curtain.

That is a great idea jenningspaige. I wonder if my husband will go for it. He is one who likes his beauty sleep. I can understand since he gets up at 5am for work. But I would rather get a few less winks of sleep before then at Disney.

Wow, a cruise with a baby. That sounds like torture. I guess it is better than a toddler. I have never been on a cruise but I picture if I was on one no children would be present. Just me, a book, and a fruity drink .

If she would sleep in one of our beds, that would be fine, but she won't even when she was an infant.
