Pack and Play Setup

We're 10 days out from our daughter's first trip to Disney World! WOO HOO!

She's 21 months old and we will be using one of the Disney provided pack and plays. We'll be staying at Port Orleans French Quarter.

Any tips on the best place to set this up? I was thinking by the sink area and closing the curtain when we put her down for bed...I think she's going to crash pretty quickly most days and she doesn't wake up from noises around her. I think she would have a hard time falling asleep with us in the same "room" as her which is why I was thinking this might work...but I'm not really sure of how it will work space wise.

Suggestions? Experiences?

I don't know the answer, but I would also love to hear people's thoughts! We went last year with our 9 week old, and just put the pack 'n play between our king bed and the wall (at CBR), since he could fall asleep through most anything and was waking up several times a night to eat. But this year, now that he's 13 months old, I'm expecting the same sorts of difficulties you mention. So hoping that someone has advice for both of us.

I don't know if the PnP will fit there and I haven't stayed at POFQ however, when we stayed at the Caribbean we would put the kids down, leave the door open a crack and sit outside waiting for them to fall asleep. If the weather is nice, this might be an option.

Maybe by the front door. Consider Gaff tape (Amazon sells it), it's the same stuff used by most churches and a lot of stage show folks. It's kind of like duct tape, but, removes easily and without damage. Use it to tape the bedspread up around her to make her own little room.

We have not stayed at POFQ but when we stayed at CBR we always set it up in the sink/closet area. We liked it because we could close the curtain so it was like DS had his own room.

Thank you. I think we're going to try this and then if that doesn't work will try leaving the door open a little as suggested and sitting right outside the door (just would prefer NOT to do that as my daughter will sometimes roll around for an hour trying to wind down...though I'm guessing she will be completely DONE at the end of the day at Disney).

I don't know about those rooms, when we went we put the pack n play by the wall, there was room between the one bed, and the door, so we just put it over there. I wouldn't want to put it by the sink, because that is right by the bathroom, and the toilets are loud, so you wouldn't be able to use that area at all after the baby is sleeping.

I would think the pack n play might fit right in the closet area. That way your daughter would be somewhat closed off from the rest of the room.

We fit a pack n play behind the curtain in POR just fine - haven't stayed at FQ yet, but you might post this question on the POFQ thread in the resorts section... Andre is very helpful over there!

We did that at ASMu with our daughter and it worked great. And I am not one that can go all night without a bathroom visit! I was able to sneak quietly through the curtain and around the pack and play, enter the bathroom, silently shut the door (hold the handle down until you're sure the door is all the way closed to avoid a loud click!) and THEN turn on the light. I grew up with a septic tank (if it's yellow let it mellow!) so I was fine with not flushing until the morning, but once I did forget and she still didn't wake up. We also did utilize a white noise machine in the room to help her sleep better and not get woken by any small noises (or snoring!).

We stayed at POR last year with our 1 year old son. We found that the best place for our pack and play was where they placed a bench in the room. We moved the bench into the sink area and the pack and play fit perfect against the wall. We pulled the curtain closed at night but left the light on by the sink for a nightlight for him overnight, don't try to leave the light on in the bathroom the fan is connected to it and will be on for awhile. I would also try to keep the pack and play away from the front door as the air conditioner is right there and could be too chilly for little ones. I was also worried that he would have a hard time sleeping with us right there but after a full day at WDW he crashed every night and never woke up until we woke him up.
