Anyone else doing this?

I'm going to start this Monday. I have taken a quick look at the videos and I'm not going to lie, I'm a little scared. :scared1:

With a video titled "Ab Ripper" who wouldn't be :rotfl:

So if you have done it, do you like? I used to go to the gym quite often, but with my new job my schedule is a little different and I just can't get there for the classes that I liked to go to so I thought this could be a good alternative (I'm not an elliptical/machine type person, I like classes more).

Hoping to drop 15 more lbs!

I have a close friend who did it religiously and lost 40 lbs. The food was the hardest part but the difference in the workouts kept it interesting for him. DH started to do it last year but hurt his shoulder so stopped for awhile and is hoping to start up again in the next couple weeks.

Good Luck to you! It looks intimidating to me!

My DH has gone through the program 3 times, but had to stop due to injuries. First he injured his shoulder and then his knee. Ended up having to have surgery on his knee and now he can't do the program any more. He did lose 40 pounds (but has since gained it back).

At the same time, he was also in taekwondo for two years (got up to red belt with a black stripe). He ate well and followed many of the meals and diets he found on P90X message boards from program users. He was in the best shape of his life, but he never looked like the people in the videos. He followed the program to a T and sometimes even did the Nordic track in the evenings (3 times a week) to get in more cardio when he stopped the Tai Kwan Do (because he was sparring a young 20 year old who broke one of DH's ribs). He never missed a day of the P-90X, except for the given day off once a week.

I guess if one has a body type that will conform to looking like the people in the video, they will get buff. But he never had that body type and therefore did not look like that, even after 3 times.

I saw him do the workouts and heard him from the other room grunting loudly. It scared me too much to do that myself and even worried about him having a heart attack for working so hard (he's in his late 40s).

DH bought me the P-90 (no "x") program which is not as intense, but is still very very good. I still haven't used it. :3dglasses I'm going to use Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred program instead which is also not an easy program.

Many many people have had excellent results with P-90X, and yes it is very hard. Good luck!

I just ordered this too. I need to lose or tone about 20 pounds. I am terrified! But I am willing to give it try. ( I got a good deal at their website for $65 for the package.) I was curious about how it worked for women, and looked up a review that said if you are not already in somewhat good shape and looking for weight loss, it may not give the results you want. I definitely fall into that category, but I am willing to try-hoping to prove her wrong.

The thing I am most afraid of are pull-ups. I have never been able to do more that 2, and now that I weigh too much, it's going to be even harder!:lmao:

I'm there with you gals! Since we are all girls, maybe we should try to keep this thread going and keep up on each others progress? I'm going to bookmark it right now!

Good luck!

best advice I can give is, don't try to keep up with the people on the tv.... set your own rep/weight targets the first time through each routine, and then try to equal/surpass that the next time through.

and don't be discouraged if you don't drop a lot of weight/look all ripped like the people in the 'after' photos.... it took a lot of them more than a single 90 day rotation to get those results.
