I am trying to decide if we should do the P&P Party on our arrival day. Our day will start at 2:30-3am when we leave for our drive to the airport. I will have the kids dress in what they will wear to the airport so dh will carry the younger two to the car and leave them sleeping until we arrive at the airport around 4:45 am. They are used to this seeing as we do this for drs appointments 2x a month, we will only be going about 1 hour earlier than usual. My dd age 11 will sleep on the flight as well, not sure about ds. He has never flown but will have his dvd player and other things to occupy him if he cant rest. We should arrive in Orlando before 12 pm. At home, only dd 11 naps and she can truly sleep anywhere so if she gets tired we will have a stroller she can sleep in. DS usually wakes up around 7am and goes until 9pm, we have done many trips to the childrens hospital where we started the day around 4am and didnt get home until 11 pm and went to the zoo or science center for the rest of the day and he did okay. Now that you know how my kiddos are on a typical day, what do you think? Am I expecting to much for our first day? See any potential problems with this plan? DD thinks if ds is cranky it is better to be cranky at the MK than anywhere else, lol. She thinks he will be to excited to rest. I somewhat agree but seeing as I am a first time mom to a preschooler at Disney World, I figure I should check with all of you veterans before I plan this.
Thanks

I think that if you can get into your room early (not a easy feat) to rest up then yes. My advice is none of these parties have sold out as of yet, so why not play it by ear and buy the tickets the day of if you want to go? Sure a bit more money but better than spending it and being too tired to go.

I saw this thread about an upcoming Official WDW Special Event. Wouldn't it be great if the DIS had a board for just those WDW Special Events? If you are interested in helping to make that happen, please consider voting in a poll that I created in hopes of making this dream a reality. I feel that it would be really helpful to be able to find all of the details on those special events in one place instead of lost in a sea of basic planning posts.

Sorry for hijacking the thread for a moment, but I do feel that having the new sub-board would be really helpful. Now, please return to the original discussion.

You mentioned the kids...but you didn't talk about yourself. I am usually exhausted after a day of travel...I was up later... got up earlier...don't get the nap and have to haul everything through the airports. If you could get a little downtime in the hotel it might work...but remember you need to be rested for Disney, just as much as the kids!

We originally had the P&P for our first night, but out flight options were an early 7am flight, would have been good if we knew we could rest at the hotel. DD9 would probably be ok without nap but DD4 would really need a rest. The later flight would mean we would arrive at 4:45 and not get to the park til 6:30. But taking into account that we fly from Buffalo and flight delays, we decided to fly down a day early. So if you could do the party on another night during your stay might be better. Hopefully you can have a relaxing day at your resort and attend the party at night, if that is an option.

I think thats too much for arrival day .

No way I would do a PPP the day of arrival, esp. if your family is waking up at 2:30 am!! We actually usually do nothing on our day of arrival. I like to get everyone settled, get things organized, get everyone in bed at a decent time and be ready for rd the next day. If you do PPP the day you arrive you are going to have some VERY tired parents and kids. Esp. if the kids do not nap after your arrival. Also, you are limiting what you can do the next day. If you wake at 2 am and then keep your kidss out at the parks until midnight everyone is going to need the next day to rest and recuperate. I personally would not do it. WAY too much.

That's too much, IMO. What if your flight doesn't get out on time and you don't arrive in time for the party? What if your luggage is lost and you have to spend time dealing with that issue? Then you've wasted that money. There is so much else to check out the day you arrive, I'd save the party for the second night or later.

Unless you can get to your room and sleep for several hours I think its too much to do on your arrival day.
