P.O.T.C. On Stranger Rides! The Missing Chapter,,Final Thoughts,, Preview Thoughts.

Yes, :rotfl: the title has nothing to do with the actual chapter, but what a great name for a book.
Ok, I'd like to see a show of hands from all those that know where that is from, don't come right out and say it, but give me a subtle hint that shows you caught it, I'm curious to see how many know it.

Suicide is Painless.....;)

OK, back to read the actual chapter

Just a real quick post. I haven't even read the latest Nebo chapter but did see the title and glanced at what I quoted above... and that's it! I'll read it tomorrow at work and comment then.

But I had to answer that first question. Had to. Had to. And that by itself should be clue enough that I know where it's from. That and the fact that I know that jcc0621 gave an excellent answer. Not many people know that. But... to post a subtle hint. Hmmm... Ah, of course:

Nebo, can you tear out the chapter you're done with, so I can read it next?

4077. I'm an old soul.

Great update! Trails End sounds good (if you're allowed to eat of course). Fort Wilderness seems so far out of the way though...

I'm thinking that if you don't play your cards right you'll be down to one drawer next time...

steve, we had a keurig at the royal pacific, remember? the housekeeping room was across the hall, and was open, and I kept going inn there getting dif. kinds of coffee and tea> they come in those little platic corrugated containers.

anyway, the sad thing about the trip to FW was....
before the trip, whilst searching the dis for any useful info pertinent to our trip< I came across soemthing VERY useful!!! which I printed out, read to nebo, and we both forgot until I remembered a few days too late.

the bay lake resorts (CR, WL and FW) are connected by a launch, which goes from one to the other to the third and back!! at home I even commented on how much more convenient it will be to eat at FW when we can catch a boat right from our resort!!! .. so.. what do WE do? walk all the way over to MK! sheesh.:confused3

WOW do I feel stupid now!

I posted almost the same thing you did that same day without knowing you had posted something similar.

I guess my secret is out of the bag, how a lot of the time I just skip ahead during the TR's.

On the flip side, if that isn't the craziest of coincidences I don't know what is!!

Jay

I just figured your friend watched the same show I did.:confused3

Thanks for the Welcome Nebo. I have been reading your older TRs and have been laughing so hard I was afraid I popped my stitches!

That surprise video was great. So often the parents try for these great surprises and get a non-reaction. This one was priceless.

I am planning a quickly in Janurary. My DD is a CM and I might go visit her. Is it weird that I want to stay at Pop so I can try the tie-dye cheesecake?

That's crazy about the buffet. She's lucky she never got a fork stuck in her hand!
We were at Marie Callendar's last night, and the waiter kept asking, "Are you still working on that?" No son, I'm not working, I'm enjoying it! At least he didn't do a sneak and grab.:sad2:

I manage a restaurant and used to always ask my guests if they were "still working on that" Until I got yelled at! Now I say "are you still enjoying your lunch" it actually makes more sense.

Don't have a reference for The Rooster Crows at Midnight. My thought is A popular TV show for the 60's (slight age reference there) about WW2 POW's.

Once we unpacked and put our stuff away without getting into a fight over who gets what drawers for clothes,
(surprisingly, very surprisingly, Diane was very reasonable for a change, she took 3 drawers and gave me 3 drawers.)

But isn't it nice to know that after all these years, Smidgy still wants to get in your drawers?

Yes, they are overrated, I would never pay for a "view" unless I had no choice.

I don't know how many times I've been in a hotel room, opened the drapes and said, "Hey, look at the view." Sometimes 'cause it's good, sometimes 'cause it's bad. I do know that once I've done it, I rarely look out that window again. One exception. We stayed in a very nice hotel in Vegas for our anniversary last year. You could set up the alarm to open the drapes and turn on the lights instead of the usual clock radio alarm. That time I looked out every day. I don't see why I should pay for a view when I'm just not that interested in it :confused3

Does anybody smell a list coming on? You should.

Is that what that smell is? Funny, I thought it was something totally different.

4. AKL, savannah view
Yeah, animals are cool. But when you sit there and watch a giraffe eating leaves off the same tree for 45 minutes, you end up wanting some action, that's when I stand up and scream, "Send in the Kraaken!"

Funny, I always pictured them letting the lions mingle with the gazelles with audio commentary by Marlin Perkins.
Perkins: "The newborn gazelle is already able to walk after only a few minutes, but what's this in the bush? A pride of lions, and don't they look hungry. Jim will go out and try and rescue the little feller before he gets devoured."
Jim: "I'm gonna what????"
Perkins: "Never mind, Jim. Oh, and for all you young'ens wittnessing this... circle of life, kids. Circle of life."

As you can see, I like kinetic views, up here on the 15th floor it's like looking at a postcard the whole time.

Nebo said 'kinetic'. Let's use it in a sentence! A flea can lift up to 60 times its own weight, but kinetic do the same?

001.jpg

By far the best photo I've seen of you.

Now, the potty room, you can see the vanity right next to the toily.

potty? toily? What, are we in kindergarten here? Just call it what it is, man. A biffy.

The ice machine was on the opposite wing from us, waaay down the hallway, and it was one floor below us.

Ya gotta love the good life! Maybe the butler is suppposed to get it.

However, most posters on that thread say you may have to show your DVC membership card, along with the KTTW card, understand?...I looked around and didn't see a key card reader anywhere and suggested maybe we should just try the doors, which she did.

They opened out and we went inside.

You're one of those people who just have to touch the bench with the 'wet paint' sign on it, aren't ya?

Then we went back to the room, it was just pouring out, and not surprisingly, I got all anxious looking at all the rain again,,,, gee, wonder why?

Ya got me. :confused3 Not a clue. :rolleyes1

It was some time around now that the batteries on the camera died, when I replaced them I had to reset the time again, and once again I screwed it up that took me a few days to notice. it's stuck in military time it seems, but now I have the day starting at 12 noon.

But it stopped soon enough,

So the day started at noon and then stopped. Did you get to see Klaatu?

If you look on the very left side of the pic, you'll see the balcony railing for the room next to us,,,,, and yes, I really was hanging out that far to get the best angle, Smidgy almost threw up!

I bet you have that affect on all the girls.

Ok, we chose to walk to MK and grab the Fort Wilderness Fairy from there.

Ferry.
Is my Freudian slip showing?

Reminds me of one of my fave jokes. You know the one about the tickets to Pittsburgh?

Caught a boat without too much of a weight, and soon we pulled up at the FW dock.
(stop it Fraud)

close one.

This is a very hard restaurant to eat at, mainly for one reason.

They won't let you!

:lmao: That's hillarious. I especially liked the part about grabbing Wonder Waitress' wrist. Of course now I'm picturing the waitress in a bustier and a lasso of truth... but that's another story.

As we are walking back to BLT, well, what do you know, a monorail flies by overhead.
A little further another one goes by and I point it out.

"Yes, I know, I know, once again they don't have a clue what's going on." Smidgy replied.
The Magic Kingdom closed at 7 tonight, then it was the Night of Joy hard ticket time. According to what we were told, the resort monorail was to stop at 8 o'clock tonight.
Right!

But what time was it? Just a little afer 8? Or much later? I know it was before 10.

Back in our room, it was kind of cool to watch the Electric Water Pageant from our balcony, but it doesn't get over here until after ten o'clock.

But nice to be able to see it from the room. :)

I was wondering why you didn't just take the launch from the dock a CR. I like those boats there smaller and more rustic looking than the big boats that run between Fort Wilderness and the MK.
I really like the food at Trails End. We have stayed at the cabins in FW a couple of times and we alway eat there at least once. Nothing fancy but it all taste good and I can recognize everything they try to serve.

The Rooster Crowed at Midnight = the whole camp read it.

Suicide is Painless.....;)

OK, back to read the actual chapter

We have a winner!

I wonder if she is the same waitress that told me I shouldn't let my DS have a second glass of chocolate milk;).

We really liked the Food at Trails End too. We will probably do HDDR next year so no TE for us.

So what's next???popcorn::

That's what's great over there, it 's the same food at both places. What's next? We finally go to a park.

I've had a TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD WEEK. Thank you for the giggles. I could use some more... cuz I fear there's only more bad news to be had.

Sorry things aren't going well Rebecca, glad we were here to help.

Yeah, that's another new catch phrase like "No problem" when you say thank you to someone.

I know...I know.....

to be honest I was clueles and looked it up....;)

I agree with you about the view! Unless I plan to spend a lot of time in my room with nothing better to do than gaze out the window.....kinda like the trip I had to make to the dentist durring our trip and ended up higher than a kite from pain pills.....

.....and this is a bad thing?:confused3

The only place I really worry about the view is when we go to the coast. I love sitting on a balcony listening to the ocean and just watching...I could and have done that for hours.

Smidgy's the same way, she loves looking at water just sit there. .

I can't believe your waitress! Maybe she thought her tips were based on how fast she could remove your food....or maybe there's a 1 plate at a time rule....or my favorite....she had a bet going with some of the other servers to see how many times she could do that before you said something.

It was incredible how fast she was.

I spent the better part of my day reading your TR. So many funny comments, I like the Tiger quote the best.
I can see why you hated to leave CBR, you really did get a great room. Corner rooms are the best, makes the room seem larger. I really do not like the separate checkin building at CBR, glad you didn't have to go back there for anything.
Interested in your opinion on BLT, trying it for a couple nights in a few weeks. The rates for the Holiday week were unreal, renting points made the most sense. I was lucky to get BLT, hope we like it.
You write such a funny TR, truly one of a kind on the DIS.:rotfl: The pictures of you that Pkondz added are hilarious. Esp the coppertone one

Hey, a new kid, welcome aboard! And you just happen to be the lucky 1000 poster on top of it! Which means you win,,,,

NOTHING!

Yeah, renting points is usually a lot cheaper, I just don't like to do it cuz then I can't tinker with the upcoming trip.

Just a real quick post. I haven't even read the latest Nebo chapter but did see the title and glanced at what I quoted above... and that's it! I'll read it tomorrow at work and comment then.

I'm thinking that if you don't play your cards right you'll be down to one drawer next time...

And another winner! But I don't think you have to be old to know it when the reruns are on just about every day.

steve, we had a keurig at the royal pacific, remember? the housekeeping room was across the hall, and was open, and I kept going inn there getting dif. kinds of coffee and tea> they come in those little platic corrugated containers.

Oh, I just didn't know what they were called.

Oh, that's right, I forgot about it again, again.

The Rooster Crows at Midnight = 4077

Jay

A yes to the Bostonian.

Thanks for the Welcome Nebo. I have been reading your older TRs and have been laughing so hard I was afraid I popped my stitches!

I am planning a quickly in Janurary. My DD is a CM and I might go visit her. Is it weird that I want to stay at Pop so I can try the tie-dye cheesecake?

Um, I hate to pop your Pop bubble, but I'm a big cheesecake fan, and that tie die is the pits, the regular cheesecake there is better. But what is truly excellent, a masterful piece of work is the slice of chocolate cake that's usually sitting right next to it, I can't get enough of that stuff.

I agreee, enjoying is a much better choice, but no on your Hogan's Heros answer.

Funny, I always pictured them letting the lions mingle with the gazelles with audio commentary by Marlin Perkins.

Perkins: "Never mind, Jim. Oh, and for all you young'ens wittnessing this... circle of life, kids. Circle of life."

yes,,:lmao:of course you just wrote that since you're really me.
This is no lie:
When I was about 18 or 19, my friend and I did a just audio spoof on Wild Kingdom that we taped on cassette, my friend still has the tape I'm pretty sure.
I don't remember too much of it, but it went something like;;;;;;
........(Marlin Perkins speaking),,,,
"We are here in Nairobi Africa following a wounded wildebeast on foot after leaving our jeep.
That scream you just heard came from our guide, a member of the Bare Dupas tribe who just tried to sit down on the black vinyl seat in the jeep.
What we didn't realize was that as we were following the wildebeast, a giant male lion was following us and is preparing to attack.
I have now sent Jim to intervene.

"If the butterfly net doesn't work, I will have to come to Jim's assistance."
"Darn, I have accidentally hit Jim with the tranquilizer dart, this will put Jim at a definate disadvantage."

"And just as the big cat is getting the best of Jim, so can insurance cost get the best of you, that's why Mutual of Omaha has a better plan."

Nebo said 'kinetic'. Let's use it in a sentence! A flea can lift up to 60 times its own weight, but kinetic do the same?

By far the best photo I've seen of you.

Yes, it really showed off my eyes, didn't it?

Ya gotta love the good life! Maybe the butler is suppposed to get it.

I don't think we have ever, ever, been near an ice machine when staying at a Deluxe or DVC resort.

You're one of those people who just have to touch the bench with the 'wet paint' sign on it, aren't ya?

Why would I touch the bench when it's the sign that has the wet paint on it?

Ya got me. :confused3 Not a clue. :rolleyes1

I'm still shell shocked from that experience, now when it storms both me and the cat are hiding behind the water heater.

I bet you have that affect on all the girls.

Yes I do, my best Pick-up line is, "Does this look infected to you?"

Reminds me of one of my fave jokes. You know the one about the tickets to Pittsburgh?

No, I honestly don't.

But what time was it? Just a little afer 8? Or much later? I know it was before 10.

But nice to be able to see it from the room. :)

It was about nine thirty, or an hour and a half after they said the monorail would be closed.

The Rooster Crowed at Midnight = the whole camp read it.

that's a good way of putting it, recognize everything thyey serve, I too like it when I don't have to ask what something is, I don't do well over at Boma's.

And we have yet another winner

yes,,of course you just wrote that since you're really me.

Maybe I should stop reading your mind. People are going to start saying, "He writes a pretty good TR, but then he comes on with another I.D. and comments on his own TR... and now he comments on his own comments!"

This is no lie:
When I was about 18 or 19, my friend and I did a just audio spoof on Wild Kingdom that we taped on cassette, my friend still has the tape I'm pretty sure.

I think every kid did some sort of spoof on it at one time or another!

Yes, it really showed off my eyes, didn't it?

Showed off your thighs, did you say?

I'm still shell shocked from that experience, now when it storms both me and the cat are hiding behind the water heater.[/B]

But isn't it nice to have company? Misery loves company, you know.

Reminds me of one of my fave jokes. You know the one about the tickets to Pittsburgh?

No, I honestly don't.

Really? Thought everybody'd heard it. I can't post it on the Dis, definitely not family friendly. If anyone wants to hear/read it let me know and I'll PM it. That includes you, Nebo, in case you're not interested.

It was about nine thirty, or an hour and a half after they said the monorail would be closed.

Ah!

4077, and to let you know I live in the hometown of radar!!

Anyways, just got caught up. Just got back from St. Louis watching the cards win it all!! Sorry, hoping you're more of a white sox fan than a cubbie.

Love the watch tan line, I coach high school baseball during the summer and mine looks like that every year. Thanks for the opinion on BLT, we are staying there in march mainly for it's location, have heard several mixed results about the place. But we'll make it work regardless of where we are.

I'm sensing some sort of mishap soon...it's been going too good so far...

This TR is going so fast that it's hard to keep up! Good thing I had the weekend to catch up.
Thanks for the opinions, info and pictures of CBR. I've considered it in the past, but it always seemed there was another resort we would enjoy more. Now I know we will have to try it. I feel the same way you do about BLT and the Contemporary... kind of cold and charmless and no Disney feel to it.
Great update, Nebo. Can't wait for the next one.

Then I will just have to stay at Poly!,

I have great memories of my friends and I doing "man on the street" interviews with our old reel to reel tape recorder. We would laugh and laugh when we played them back. Once some bug landed by us when we were recording something and on the play back all you could here was screaming and blah blag, mic falling, feet jumping on chairs. It was hilarious ! Aww the good old days

One question about the Segway tour. Was it basically just riding the dang things through WS or was there any behind the scenes info. I just read your question in "Guess Who's Coming to Free Dinner" asking if you would like KTTK. Have you done it yet?

Ok Ponzi, send me the joke.

...

Blt is okay, just some resorts I like better, and of course I'm a White Sox fan.

Yeah, Radar, would that be Ottumna? Something like that? I knew it was in Iowa.
Hey, so far we have readers and posters from Radar's town,
Henry Blake's, (Bloomington Il. ), a few from Major Winchester's, (Boston),,, Frank is from somewhere in Indiana, I think. Anybody from Toledo? Or Crabapple Cove, aMaine? Hmmm, BJ is somewhere in California but not sure the town, same for Potter, I think he's from somewhere in Missouri.

Sandy, don't say cold and charmless, there's people reading that have trips there coming up, I prefer to say it's an acquired taste, and in my case, I usually prefer any moderate over any deluxe cuz I much prefer outside corridors than long, dark, hallways.

Then I will just have to stay at Poly!,

I know exactly what you mean, holding the mike connected to a little reel to reel tape recorder and thrusting it in my friends faces.
Then in the early 90's we did the same thing with video recorders until that finally got old too, only problem was it took 15 years for THAT to get old!

One question about the Segway tour. Was it basically just riding the dang things through WS or was there any behind the scenes info. I just read your question in "Guess Who's Coming to Free Dinner" asking if you would like KTTK. Have you done it yet?

Ah yes, good ol' Lauren, our cuter scooter tutor.
As for did we learn anything in WS? I'm not really the best to answer that question, maybe Smidgyn can, Lauren might and probably did tell us a lot more than I caught but it was before my hearing aids, and I missed a lot.
I know we spent a lot of time in Italy, Japan, and Morocco.
Yes, we did do the KTTK tour, that is at almost the very end of Honey I Shrunk the Checkbook. Here's the thing about that tour, the more you know about DisneyWorld, the less you will like it.
We kept saying to ourselves, "I knew that, I could be giving this tour."

Ok, The Rooster Crowed at Midnight is indeed from a MASH episode in which BJ gets a book and the entire camp can't wait to read also so when he finishes a chapter he rips it out and it gets passed on.
Then he finds out at the very end that the last couple pages are missing and the killer's name is never revealed.
They then try to contact the author to find out who did it, but she is in her nineties.

What's wrong with 90's? My mom got to be 96 and was still sharp as a tack:confused3 She learned bookkeeping on a computer in her 80's. Of course, my brother had everything she did checked, but still, not bad for an old lady and it kept her occupied and feeling needed and useful :hippie:

I need a gig like that....

Another fine chapter, Nebo. Sorry to hear that BLT is not living up to the hype so far. But I love that you can see the parade from your room and the view looks pretty nice.

I'm not very good at quoting, but I wanted to comment on a few things...

About the tanning...I can sympathize with Smidgy. My friend described me this summer as "a darker shade of pink" when I showed her my glorious tan, from spending much time outside with the kids this summer. I have NEVER tanned, but this was pretty close. I usually get red and then go back to a pinky white. :headache:

And your waitress sounds like one I ran into on the Cape a few summers ago. My boys and I had spent a couple of days visiting Nana and were on our way home, but wanted to stop for some fried clams before we left. We ordered and went outside to eat. Now ever since my oldest potty trained he ALWAYS has to go as soon as our food arrives. It's like Pavlov's dogs, it never fails - even at home. My youngest has fallen asleep just as we arrived at the restaurant, so I've got his dead weight in my arms and we have to get up to go to the bathroom (the oldest is still too young at this point to go on his own). So I've had a few clams and a couple of sips of my drink and off we go. James has had none of his food! As I'm sure you can guess, we come back to the table and the food is gone. I am in such disbelief I just start walking to the car, shaking my head, telling my son to please go to the bathroom BEFORE the food arrives. After the shock wears off, and my son is crying that he didn't get his chocolate milk, I decide to go back in and explain what happened. The waitress comes over and apologizes and I say he just wants a chocolate milk. Thankfully, it is the owner of the restaurant working the counter and she cooks up another meal for James. So after that long story, I feel your pain. Sometimes the staff is just too quick! Love that she was so stealth as well (can't get yelled at that way!).

I thought the title was related to MASH, but couldn't remember the episode. And I believe Crab Apple Cove was fictional and BJ came from an "M" name town near San Fran. Mill Valley, maybe??? And I think Potter was from Hannibal Missouri.

Also, wanted to say to Jake that I'm surprised you were able to post after the loss today - we were all disgusted here! Maybe you were lucky and lost power in the storm and didn't get to see it. :rotfl2:

um, just to set the record straight, I am a tanner. have always tanned. spent my childhood on the banks of the fox river, my high school summers at foster ave. beach in chgo. yes at the beginning of the trip , I was a little pink.. didnt' last long. and while my cheeks get kinda red, it always turns to a nice reddish brown. ;) (just in case nebo got that wrong....)

which is why I love lying in a lounge chair, by the pool, in the sun, for hours. but it is nice to be able to duck into the shade now and then...

and , unike nebo, I beleive the pools are not just for "lookin' at"

Abigail Porterfield wrote the book. When the last page was discovered to be missing, along with the solution to "who done it", BJ phones her to find out who it was. She's befuddled and gives several ultimately incorrect answers. I think the solution is never given.
