P.O.T.C. On Stranger Rides! The Missing Chapter,,Final Thoughts,, Preview Thoughts.

welcome back guys. glad you made it home safe and again my deepest condolences on your loss. can't wait until this weekend when I can get caught up. My smart mouth kid wanted to know what film was and how does it develope (17 and is quite the smarty pants. )

Great start, Nebo! :thumbsup2

I hate that your trip started out with a scare. :scared1:

I am however, happy you started the TR! :woohoo:

I swear it rains every time we take 57 to 24 when we head to Nashville. I hate driving in the rain. I hope that tire doesn't give you any more problems but I bet it does.

Can't wait to read more popcorn::.

"Annnnnnnnnd we're off!!!"

Love it and so excited the TR has started!

I'm mechanically limited so I wouldn't of checked a single thing on the car and then driven until the tire went flat and we fish tailed into ongoing traffic!

Is it wrong that I actually root for strange things happen to you and Smidgy for my own TR reading enjoyment?

Jay

That would be me too! Put in the CD, say a quick prayer fpr safe travels, and GET GOING TO DISNEY!!!

Ignorance is bliss, right?
:hippie:

Finally!!! I am thrilled you have started your report. I hate car problems with a passion--but car problems on vacation is the worst! Hope the rest of your ride down wasn't horrible, but somehow I am not very optimistic  Can't wait to hear what happens next!

Great start, Nebo. To the TR, not to the trip! :scared: Can't wait for the continuing adventures...

For those in the area, Tracy, Kim, Kathy, we tried a different early route this time.

Hey, hey, who am I, chopped liver? Just because I moved to the left coast 34 years ago, that doesn't mean I forgot the area. I commuted on 53 every day for 3 years; and that includes the portion that they later removed the cow chips from and paved into a freeway, and then called it I-355.

through all of Illini nation. 355 is a much more pleasant road than 294, but it is a bit curvy.

Oskee Wow-Wow!

Hope things get better for you guys, in a hurry. Wait, we're talking about Nebo and Smidgy here. What was I thinking? Oh well, looking forward to the rest of it. popcorn::

-Bob

What if we someone rewrote the words, like me. :rotfl:

:rockband: "Let's get this TR started" :rockband:

I’m logging on,
So you better, get this TR started
(Get this TR started)
I'm logging on
So you better get this TR started

Get this TR started on a Monday night
Everybody's waitin' for Nebo to write
Sendin' out the call outs to all of his friends
Waiting on Smidgy to chime right in.
Nebo trying to figure out his notes on his little note pad
He will type for hours ‘cause his 'puter just crashed.

I’m logging on,
So you better get this TR started
I'm logging on
So you better get this TR started

Telling us about Disney and all of their trip,
How Nebo fell down and nearly busted his hip.
Driving down the interstate with his only good eye
Smidgy praying that they’ll make it alive
Pull up to the World, get out of the car
Nebo says to Smidgy we’re here Superstar

I’m logging on,
So you better get this TR started
I'm logging on
So you better get this TR started

Going to Magic Kingdom, trying to sneak booze in
Oh NO don’t tell us that Smidgy got busted AGAIN.
Collecting fast passes throughout the whole day
So they can use them later while the crowds watch parades.
We’ll have lots laughs and post our comments
Everyone stick around until this TR ends

I’m logging on,
So you better get this TR started
I'm logging on
So you better get this TR started
So let’s get this TR started.

Thumper, my MAN! That was outstanding, nice job and well worthy of that Kpondz guy.

Have no fear, the Canadian Geek is here!!!! Yes ladies and gentlemen, after months of being awol on the boards, I am back! And from what I see of Nebo's last post, I'm right on time!!! :yay:

yep, couldn't have timed it better. Wow, I'm getting more Canadians on this thread than States people!

It's gonna get better, right? Right? RIGHT?

Oh, absolutely, no doubt.

But, hoping the lucked changed and it was just the valve stem...:scared1:

Oh yes, absolutely, no doubt.
(boy, these call outs are getting easier every day)

You are scaring me with the tire story. We were driving down to Atlanta last year to visit my sister and one of our tires blew, near Bowling Green, KY. So, there I am on the left shoulder of the interstate, with all that traffic whizzing by. Thank God for the emergency roadside assistance from the insurance company. A state trooper even came by to check on us. Good times.

Yep, nothing says good times like standing on the side of a highway with a car that won't go anymore.
When it happened to us, we,,,,,,,, uh oh,,,,,didn't get there yet,,,,,

Enjoying your report, tracking you on the map we will be driving home for Christmas Rockford Illinois. We have not driven in many years so I'm looking forward to a road trip. Seeing as it is still 100 degree weather here I am looking forward to some snow and ice:scared1:

You live in Texas, but you're coming to Rockford in December? And they say I'm nuts!

Oh I would still be yelling at my dh once we dead on the highway to.:rotfl2::lmao:

I'm hoping that it ends well.....

Oh yes, absolutely, no doubt! Hey, another Chicago person, great to see ya!

Hope it gets better

Marita

Oh yes, absolutely,,,, yada yada yada....:lmao:

Hey Ponzi, great job, just like old times, eh?

I certainly feel your pain having to drive down the highway in the rain.. had a meeting in DC around that same time (remnants of TS Lee and a stalled coldfront) and had to drive back down I95 and from Fredricksburg to Richmond, it was an absolute downpour every single mile (oh yeah, it was at night as well). After checking the smartphone and checking out the radar, it seemed that a front had settled north to south RIGHT over I95.. and radar showed reds, not the gentle rain greens. lol (oh and it was moving almost due north on I95 Made that 1 hour trip take forever..

Made it home in one piece and the Avalanche got a great power wash.. it was nice and shiny the next day.. and no bugs in the grill!! :rotfl2:

can't wait for more on the continuing drama from the beastly trip!! :thumbsup2

Lotsa fun, huh Frank? And an Avalanche? Isn't that like the mother of all Suv's? Or is that a giant pick up truck?

Sorry for your troubles on the way, but I am so happy to have another Nebo and Smidgy trip report to read!! :goodvibes

More thatn happy to oblige you, Kath.

The curse of the leaking tire! Sounds like my life - or rather my driver's side rear tire.;)

As someone else (I'm terribly bad with names, so forgive me) mentioned. The only reason this TR isn't terrifying me is that you obviously made it home.

Condolences to Smidgy & you for the loss of a great person in your life.

Glad you started. :woohoo:

So does anyone want to take bets on how long it will take Nebo to finish this TR? I say six months.

Not off to a great start, huh? Hope you got some laughs in! It's Nebo and Smidgy, so I know you managed to have a great time, regardless of the circumstances!

I have an impending sense of doom about the next leg of the trip. Cue the old style voiceover..."Will our dashing and fearless hero and our lovely auditory ace heroine make it to Disney in one piece?" "Will they survive the torrential storm Lee?" "Will the Santa Fe, aka Little Blue Engine that could, make it past the tire fiasco to triumph yet again?" Tune in next time to find out!

I would wink, but I'm a little nervous about the next leg. I would say I will breathe a sigh of relief once you drive under the WDW signs, but this is you we are talking about. The reality is that I won't be able to breathe a sigh of relief until the TR is over.

Way to hook me Nebo!

fHi buzz, great post, I especially loved the "auditory ace" part, and what makes you think we had problems coming home, too?:headache:

welcome back guys. glad you made it home safe and again my deepest condolences on your loss. can't wait until this weekend when I can get caught up. My smart mouth kid wanted to know what film was and how does it develope (17 and is quite the smarty pants. )

Actually, these two rolls of film cost over 20 bucks at Walgreens to develop, and that was without them putting them on the cd like they used to.

I swear it rains every time we take 57 to 24 when we head to Nashville. I hate driving in the rain. I hope that tire doesn't give you any more problems but I bet it does.

Can't wait to read more popcorn::.

Tracy, for the record the place I found out the tire was alomst flat was in Ina, a bit NE of the great Carbondale.

Nah, why should you be any different?

That would be me too! Put in the CD, say a quick prayer fpr safe travels, and GET GOING TO DISNEY!!!

Ignorance is bliss, right?
:hippie:

yes it is,,, until it gets so loud you can't hear yourself think. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:scared1:

Finally!!! I am thrilled you have started your report. I hate car problems with a passion--but car problems on vacation is the worst! Hope the rest of your ride down wasn't horrible, but somehow I am not very optimistic  Can't wait to hear what happens next!

And I am thrilled you have started reading my trip report. But you're right, I'm not very optimistic either.
And I was there!

Great start. Reminds me, I need to have the tires on the truck rotated.

Funny, my tires are rotated every time I drive the car!:rolleyes1:headache::lmao::rotfl::sad2:

sorry

Great start, Nebo. To the TR, not to the trip! :scared: Can't wait for the continuing adventures...

Ok, sorry, you are right, you are chopped liver once removed. Better?

Oskee Wow-Wow!

Wow, this is amazing.
When I was little, my friends and I all used to yell "Oskee Wow WOw whenever we would "charge the fort" or 'capture the flag" for whatever reason a scream or yell was required, but I never knew who started it or what it meant.

And after reading the lyrics to the song I'm glad now that I'm also a Gator fan.

Hope things get better for you guys, in a hurry. Wait, we're talking about Nebo and Smidgy here. What was I thinking? Oh well, looking forward to the rest of it. popcorn::

-Bob

Things always get better at some point, but lately i've been using the word,,"different" instead.

I get online for the first time in almost 2 days and i see I've already got some catching up to do! :surfweb:

I once drove down there with really bad brakes a couple years ago, if I had gotten the new brakes then we wouldn't have been able to afford the trip.
So what if I went through three pairs of shoes from having to drag my left foot on the ground when we came to a stop light, worked for Fred Flintstone!

Now all I can picture is Nebo standing outside, pounding on the door, yelling out "DIIIIAAAAAAAAANNE"

Our pre "put the car in gear" prayer was a tad longer this morning, then I dropped the lever down into "D" for "Do It!" and, "ANNNNNNNNND, WE"RE OFF!"

No prayer before leaving is too long! :goodvibes

3 blocks away Diane says she decided to bring her light jacket after all which was followed by me yelling,,,,,
"ANNNNNNND, WE'RE TURNING AROUND!"
I had forgotten my jacket.
And my hat.

"ANNNNNNNND THEY'RE BACK!" I'm so glad you were close enough this time. And glad that you actually remembered the hat while thinking about the forgotten jacket. There's gotta be points for that right?!

As she ran in to grab them for me, I once again did a quick check through my bathroom bag, all meds are definately in order, I still shudder thinking about the last time driving down when 165 miles into the drive I had to turn around because I forgot the bag and all my worldly possessions that were ensconced inside.
The door opened and closed again and this time I yelled out, "No, I didn't forget the bathroom bag this time."
Then I started naming some things to her to make sure we had them as I pulled away again, but she wasn't answering.

Well, maybe she would have if she heard me, but she was coming out of the house now for the third time,,, before, she came out and opened the door just to close it again and run back in.
This struck me as pretty funny,,,,, I almost forgot Smidgy!

Medicine bag - Check
Cooler - Check
Jacket and hat - Check
Smidgy - Smidgy? - SMIDGY?!

:rotfl:I can picture her standing at the front door after she has locked it up again and watching you pull out of the driveway talking to the invisible wife you think you have with you.

What else could go wrong?

As George Straight once said..."Famous last words of a fool"

hey Ponzi, almost forgot.
You realize I'm more than likely the only one
who caught your silly putty pun, don't you?

Thnks to all of you who posted, and all you reading, sorry if I missed you in callouts but I've got a ton of work to still do here.
The other night I spent hours scanning all the "film" shots into the computer, only to find they were transfered into it at a miniscule size, and that's the way they were coming out in photobucket too so I had to start all over and rescan them all. Now I still have to upload them into Pbucket, plus get all the digitals in the computer and do the same thing with them. So, I better have better luck with the rest of my chores here.
Besides, the next chapter is going to require a pic or two in it for flavoring.

By the way, I know there are some of you who have told me there real names, but I sometimes forget them and usually once forgotten, they stay forgotten so sorry if it seems I'm calling you by yhour screen name too much, just write your name into the bottom of your post if that's what you'd prefer. Steve

I know exactly where Ina is. I lived about 8 miles from there for years.

hey Ponzi, almost forgot.
You realize I'm more than likely the only one
who caught your silly putty pun, don't you?

Yup, which is why I made the next one so obvious. I sat there thinking, "Nobody else is gonna even see this..."

Ok, sorry, you are right, you are chopped liver once removed. Better?

Much. Thank you. :thumbsup2

Wow, this is amazing.

OK, now that one just plain hurt. Here I was all prepared to have Ponzi slam the Fighting Illini's Oskee Wow-Wow. Him being a furriner and all. And I was gonna tell him that denigrating someone's alma mater is considered fighting words in some places. But no, it was you dissing the orange and blue. And you're from Illinois!

I'm wounded.
